Who is this Berrington guy? What a legend.

Don't know him but Cusack dropped him on 18 and when the RRR was 7.57, oh well what can you do when your strike bowler twice gets players dropped and the second drop was the really bad one :(,

oh well we will just have to beat England in August to make up for it :)...

NFI was dropped.

Great decision by Scotland at the toss to chase on a flat wicket. A lot of captains still bat in that situation but it's a huge advantage batting second.

Given I'm currently watching Niall O'Brien play for Northants in a (for them) meaningless T20 game it's fair to say Ireland weren't at full strength.

We were close to it, though.
O'Brien and Joyce are pretty big losses tbf. One could argue that when you score 320 in a ODI and then lose that a couple of batsmen missing probably didn't make the difference, but one would have to have not watched the game to argue that. The pitch was extremely flat and it was by far the smallest ground I've seen host an ODI - slopes away in every direction from the middle too.

Poyntner probably would have missed out though, and he had a really good game. Joyce might have bogged us down a bit too batting first.

It's still far from ideal obvz, but I don't think we can blame it. Poor death batting in the first innings was the killer for mine, 320 probably wasn't enough.

Who is NFI?, Ireland will learn from this but as others have said, when you take Niall O'Brien and Ed Joyce out of most teams they will not be as strong by a long way, those two players are the first choice No.3&4 in the team, that isn't saying with them we would have got the extra 20/30 runs that we needed but it would have helped :),

oh and catching Berrington would also have helped , still there is always England in August :D...

Got to ask why we don't play each other more often.

Granted, we need games against top sides but we should look to play regularly against each other and the Dutch.

Yeah I agree, it would do no harm each year, Ireland, Holland, Scotland, Zimbabwe in a type of league, top two play in the final, or something like that,

when do we play again in the ICC Cup ODI format?, we play in the four day version,

Sun Sep 1 - Thu Oct 31 Ireland v Scotland (Confirmed date not known) - Venue TBC,

does that mean we play September 1st-4th? and October 31st-3rd November,

also I hope Ireland can sort out this Marshall situation...

Agreed on the league thing.

Still though, embarrassing loss. No offense GF. Our bowling attack looks BAD.

Yeah there seems to be enough batting talent coming through to cover the regular losses there but Johnston is going to be really hard to replace when he retires after the World T20. Rankin is over-rated, particularly in limited overs cricket, and Dockrell can only do so much; the rest of the attack is made up of batsmen who can turn the arm over (even if they happen to come in at 9, that's what they are). Connell is one bowler who had the class to play at this level; went off the boil completely though. He's doing reasonably in club cricket this season - 16 wickets @ 16.

Irish_Opener, do you think this will push through the Tim Murtagh situation?, he could really help IMO, and to be fair Stirling has done a good job bowling for us most of the time and I think he should continue to stick with it along with Kevin,

hopefully Murtagh and Marshall happen sooner rather than later,

if you add into that team Murtagh, Marshall, Niall O'B, Joyce, it makes it a lot stronger straight away...
