TBF, conditions were tough and I believe he has batted as well as we have seen him bat in a long time. Anyway, it's irrelevant whether or not we can afford to carry him, because an out-of-form Dravid is still better than most of the other options we have, against quality bowling in the conditions we are likely to face in England. This series has proven that pretty conclusively. Our younger guys still have some way to go before they can replace even an out-of-form Dravid.Man, I hope Dravid does well on the England tour. Despite his hundred in the first test, I'm not fully convinced he's back in form. He's only played sporadically well for about two-three years now. His recent hundreds have come against New Zealand at home, Bangladesh in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka at home, etc. He's done absolutely nothing of note against the better sides. I really hope he comes good against Englad, because we absolutely cannot afford to carry an out-of-form Dravid.
He's been pretty poor for a seriously long time now, tbf.To be fair to him, his hundred in this series was on a very tough pitch with very little help. The best score by a West Indian in that match was 27. He's still got it to be a class apart, but has been sporadic, suggesting that it's his concentration that may be going.
At any rate, even if he can't match his old consistency, he's still better than half the batsmen on the planet. He's Rahul friggin' Dravid.
Didn't Barath make like a 70-odd?To be fair to him, his hundred in this series was on a very tough pitch with very little help. The best score by a West Indian in that match was 27. Yes, I'm not suggesting that he be dropped. I agree that he's played as well as we've seen him play for a long time; but that isn't saying much considering how poor he's been over the last two-three years.TBF, conditions were tough and I believe he has batted as well as we have seen him bat in a long time. Yeah, sorry, there were several scores higher than 27. I was paraphrasing someone else, who must have remembered a different match.Didn't Barath make like a 70-odd?
Exactly. It's very unlikely that England will give him such chances. He did get dropped on single digits with a very easy chance in his hundred though,in the slips.
Also the innings before this was given a couple of reprieves too.
He hasn't been in top form or close for a while now ,but as long as he keeps playing and grinding out one or 2 crucial innings in a series is still important in the team.
Yeah he made sixty-four.Didn't Barath make like a 70-odd?
Marlon Samuels sends down off-breaks.Who else can bowl in this Windies lineup?
He's been banned from bowling by the ICC for throwing.Marlon Samuels sends down off-breaks.
