Scorecard Draft II

By the way, one request from my side. Since I don't have access to cricinfo in my office, can we do this using howstat scorecards plaese?

HowSTAT! Match List Menu
I think you can post your pick with that site since a scorecard is a scorecard and the same record will probably be there in cricinfo as well. I'd prefer cricinfo as much as possible though.

How does it work in this when someone misses their go, do they just swap places in the order?

Salman's time has gone just about half an hour back. You have approximately 11.5 hours to make your pick.

Obv my anti-Pakistani bias speaking.

TBF, no idea why I thought so. Must have gone with 6 hour blocks for some reason.

As per the rules, they pick once they login. I'm starting to think that G I Joe's suggestion that they go to the back of the line has some merit.

No please. That'll serve no purpose except increasing their chances of missing the pick second time too.

Yes, exactly.

Also, can we clarify, is it players to have played any Tests before 1900 are banned? Seems unfair to cut out the likes of Barnes, Trumper, Rhodes, Hill and the rest of that period of cricketing history. If you don't want to go to the 19th century, just say we can only post scorecards from 1900 onwards.

I've edited the rules on this. They have to have played at least 10 tests post 1900. Didn't think of mentioning it, but yes, only 1900 scorecards are allowed. Will add that last bit it.

I'll tell you what someone could have done if he were first up this draft. He'd rather have Gilchrist than Dravid. So he'd just wait out his window, let the second guy pick Dravid, then he'd walk into the thread, apologise for the delay, and pick Gilchrist. This is a scenario that could theoretically play out at any stage of the draft, be it to pick a preferred player or to avoid selecting from a difficult era.

We're playing on the honour system here, and I'm not saying there's any of us who will abuse that trust. But experience says there's likely to be controversy, and I'd rather we had this mechanism in place to avoid that. Yes, I agree that there's a chance that the guy might miss his window the second time too, and that poses a question as to when to let him make his selection next. I'd still rather we figured out an answer to that difficult question than let people walk in and select whenever convenient (for whatever reasons) for them to do.

An easy solution for this can be to force him to select from the original scorecard.

For example, by that rule if salman comes back now he can select anyone from the original scorecard except Dravid. And the game moves on (the next person selects from the Muralitharan scorecard).
