Is the win still on for the Windies? Maybe if the needed 150 from the final session with all 7 wickets in hand..?
Weak tail. Bravo and Samuels are the only threats.. I love Shiv but he's not the one to take risks in a situation like this.

Hmm. What % of test cricketers bat left-handed? Any idea?
Since 2000 out of all the cricketers that have scored a run in test cricket about 26% have been left handers from what i can work out. 164 out of 640.

Don't seem to be able to find actual percentage of left handers in each match though. I guess it will be slightly higher.

Zaheer is ridiculously good against Left Handers.:-O

damn............you can almost say that amir owned strauss
It's not just the lefties, it's anyone who can move the ball away from him. Except that he's left very well since coming back into the side after being dropped, so you need to threaten the stumps too, and most right-armers can't do that from over the wicket.

But Ntini, Nel and Morkel went around the wicket to him in '08 and he was hopeless. Morkel owned him the same way last time they toured South Africa.

avging 40 against a top bowler is actually quite good... if you can avg 40 against a team's top bowler/s, then you can surely avg alot higher against that team overall.

Percentage of left hander dismissal for Dale Steyn is 28.57%

And for Jimmy Anderson it is 32.87%

Interesting that Strauss and Sanga are bigger bunnies of Zaheer than Smith, who is considered the very definition of a bunny vs. Zaheer. One of those cases where stats challenge a popular perception.
That's not necessarily the implication. The former two could have just played out Zaheer and scored off the other bowlers. This might bring down their average against him to less than Smith's but it doesn't mean they've played him worse.

The point which shankar makes is also valid ,and i think Zaheer has got Smith on a fair few occasions in ODI's too.

Often, batsmen play out the top bowler/s and then cash in against the weaker ones so an avg of 27 against zaheer is probably like averging 40 against india.

The number of balls faced by the three of them off Zaheer is also very comparable.. 300 for Sanga, 284 for Smith, and 290 for Strauss. Will have to look up some scorecards because I can't remember him troubling Sanga all that much..

I vaguely remember an ODI series where he gave Sanga (who was opening then) a lot of trouble.

Harby seems to have lost confidence in his own bowling.

I think we might need him to a Zaheer spending sometime outside the national team just to get thta spark back.

Atm he is comfy knowing hell or heaven cometh he's not going to be dropped.

As I type bloody ****ing Ten Sports goes off coverage again!!!

Assholes have this 5 min window everyday at around midnight... might be sun outage but heck these guys are paid well to keep those covered...

Even if the balls faced is comparable. If they're not scoring against Zaheer and scoring off the bowler at the other end, then they've done the job against Zaheer. The goal of a test bowler is to pick up wickets. If he's just containing the batsman it's not a victory for the bowler.
