English Domestic Season 2011

Wow. Tres absolutely nails one for a maximum, preceded and now followed by 4s.

Harsh lesson for young Alex Jones.

EDIT: Harsher now: 0, 4, 6, 4, 4, 2.

Sigh. What a player.

Immensely impressive performance from Zummerzet.

Masterclass from Tres at the top, but also from Craig Meschede coming in at #3. Very much the modern English country pro in that he was born in Cape Town and has a German passport. Clean striker of the ball tho.

119 from 52 balls -7x4's 11x6's, 228.84-S/R for Kevin O'Brien, and Hamish Marshall with 102 from 54 balls - 11x4's 4x6's, 188.88- S/R, some top class hitting there, 254/3 in a T20 game ...

So what's going on in Liverpool then - surely Lancs didn't gamble on a results wicket to overtake Durham? Or maybe just the dangers of using an occasional ground. Either way it looks like carnage up there - Lancs 71-6 at lunch.

.... and grateful for the 17 runs contributed by wides so far.

Apparently the pitch inspectors are happy with the pitch bizarrely. Still wouldn't be surprised with a points deduction, would be a double wammy after Benkenstien and co inevitably put on a match winning score.

Does anyone know how a club like Lancs prepare the wicket when playing at outlying grounds. Is it local staff or has the OT groundsman been over to oversee things?

Wondering if this strip is ****-up or conspiracy.

Durham 24/3 chasing 181 to win, should be an interesting last day. Have a feeling Collie and Benkenstein will see them home though

Colly scored some vital early runs, and Benkenstein saw them home (and in the process, passed 1000 runs for the season and became Durham's top runscorer of all time, passing Jon Lewis' record).

That's a 23 point lead at the top, having played a game more than Lancs. The gap to third is 53 runs (although Warwickshire are just starting a match now, at the end of which they'll still have a game in hand).

And have started quite well. Not sure where these performances are coming from, especially when we're arguably hardest hit by England calls.
