It'll probably never be substantiated. No one is going to have the balls and come out and verify that I imagine. Not the ECB, and almost definitely not Sky.

Jake where did you get the info?

See as I understand it, the scheduled close was 6.30 because there were 98 overs to be played. The rules allow for half an hour to make up any unplayed overs.

Play only gets scheduled to close at 7 if there have been delays on that specific day.

The programme scheduled to come on after the cricket was 'Football's Greatest' and they hung around chatting in the studio for a while. Yesterday when play finished they finished transmission straight away.

Went for a net with one down and was surprised to see 3. Mind, Broad was bowling very well. Hopefully set up for a good final day to end a frustrating series.

And also 43 overs in a session is pretty big enough. Adding half hour to that am not sure will be fair on the players out there.

Okay that's good. Hopefully you're right. The idea of broadcasters having even more of a say on cricket than they already have is problematic.

Just to clarify, the footy on at 7.30 is the England U21s. Programme was scheduled to start at 7.30 with a 7.45 KO so I can't see the cricket causing it any problems.

Sky also often change the channel line-ups when live programmes clash.

Like I say, I'm not 100% but I think this might just be a rumour based around circumstance

Just seen a much improved weather forecast for tomorrow. Rain may not arrive until 2-3pm so they should get at least one full session in before the rain arrives. Overcast conditions too which will help the swing bowlers.

Fingers crossed.
Am I completely missing the point when suggesting an early start?

Yeah, this sounds good. Sky can't change playing conditions mid-match!

Am I not correct in saying that after Melbourne 1998 there's regulations which prevent overly long final sessions?

I'm not sure when and where the regulations were brought in, but I'm fairly certain that the final session in England cannot ever go past 7.30pm any longer, for any reason.

According to the weather forecaster aggers retweeted "cloud giving poor light. showery rain heading in mid afternoon."

We'll have it sorted by mid-afternoon . Surely they can just put the lights on if there's an issue.
