****'s sake. Nightwatchman is stupid in this situation, where we're gonna wanna go quick tomorrow.

Though saying that I suppose they'd rather Morgan come in 5 overs in tomorrow when it's sunny (apparently).

But still.
Yes, with Morgan and Prior to come, as well as Broad and Swann, who all score quickly, they'll want to bat for a couple of sessions tomorrow and declare or get out. Maybe get 200 in front and have a crack at them tomorrow evening.

Woo! First innings lead! Woo!

This pair mightn't be our best batsmen, but (IMHO) they're comfortably the best to watch. KP all forcing front foot drives and pulls & Bell with his beautiful orthodoxy. Straight out of the coaching manual, he is.
Would suggest that despite Cook's record breaking antics, Bell is actually our best batsman right now.

Morgan ffs get out there and do your job.
Completely. Such a negative move when we're the only team who can't lose this.

Anderson should retire hurt overnight and then come back in at 9 IMO
Would be a bit of a cheap move but I'd have no problems with it. Best solution just to whack it some tomorrow.

Still think England can win this. In Sydney we went from the 1st innings lead (5 down) to winning in 5 sessions.

So long as the rain stays away we can do it again.

I think we have to win the game on Sunday.

There is a succession of weather fronts queing up to push across the South on Monday and there might not be any play at all if the fronts turn out to be vigourous ones. No-one really knows at this point however.

The safest option is to really go for it for one full session tomorrow, review at Lunch and perhaps have a 20 minute mega-blast if needed, then get into SL with all guns blazing!

Yes, if we get enough time and we can get a couple of hundred lead, it will all depend how much fight the SL's have left and obviously how well England bowl, but it's defo doable imo.

Yeah, would be nice to see us trying to force the win. We do have another innings to come as insurance which we didn't at Lords.

Personally suspect (short of being bowled out) we'll bat until tea tho.

98 overs tomorrow right?

So we lead by a few now. Should aim to score about a 200 lead from the first 40-45 overs.

Declare.

We've then got about 50 overs to try and bowl SL out for under 200. If we don't get it done, we might get some play Monday?

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but it can be done IMO

Yes that's how I see it, I think you could tell how all 3 batsmen who have spent time at the crease, it looked a planned thing, of scoring at every opportunity. Hopefully we can get as many overs of the 98 as possible tomorrow, I know it's asking a bit but if they could score nearer to 5 rpo and put on 200 in 40 overs or so, it could prove quite exciting. A lot will depend on how much play we get on the last day as well.

Yeah, a fair few innings victories, wins by enough wickets for him not to have batted twice, and of course 517-1

Shhh it is going to be just fine.

It better bloody be because I am really looking forward to tomorow. Bell is my favourite England player to watch by far and have never seen Morgan before. Hope for a nice collapse around mid afternoon to prevent us batting too long again and then Tremlett and Jimmy to set about them.
