His form going into the series and in the series (despite playing only the 2 matches) hasn't been great.Really feel for Katich, one of the few Aussies to come out of the last ashes series with any credit.
No. It was Watson who messaged him. Expressing regret that they'd no longer be opening together.I heard Ponting hadn't contacted him but I swear Katich said in the presser Clarke had messaged him?
Australia news: Michael Clarke says he can understand Simon Katich's disappointment | Australia Cricket News | ESPN CricinfoNo. It was Watson who messaged him. Expressing regret that they'd no longer be opening together.
Michael Clarke said:I sent Simon a text once I found out.
Yerp, much to Hughes' disgust too. Went off about it, and kept harping on about it after the interview like it was the single worst thing about the whole issue. Whilst I can understand the disappointment if Clarke hadn't been in touch, but I ultimately don't get why it's such a grave issue if Ponting hasn't made contact given he's no longer the captain. Surely then it simply comes down to the relationship between the two players.Nah wasn't in the press conference.
On Offsiders they mentioned that Katich did an interview with Graeme Hughes on Friday on radio and he asked Katich directly whether Clarke or Ponting had been in contact with Katich. Katich said explicitly said no.
This is weird. Katich never mentions it in his press conference. Although he does say that Watson texted him.

Yeah. I think Katich said Clarke (and Ponting) hadn't directly talked to him, and I don't think texting quite counts. Not an especially important issue in any case.Wasn't Clarke away on some training camp last week? Probs has got in contact with him since.
So who is running this ayslum now !
Senior players criticising the selectors,
Selectors not talking to players to let them know where they stand.
The administrators have taken their eyes off the most important part of their job. To ensure the best team takes the field.
The decline of every great team follows the same trend. Sycophantic administrators bowing to the whims of formerly great players who refuse to admit they are on the way out.
This is the reason the test team is on the slide.
No one is taking responsibility for it.
Reveiws Who needs reviews. Reviews to duck responsibility for making decisions.
This is another symptom not a cure.
There is a problem, it needs fixing it.
The first problem is the top man to take responsibility for the organisation
The second problem is respect between players and selectors.
Then respect of the players for the coaches role.
There was at least a week before Katich had his press conference and no one was interested in what he was going to say ?? WTF
"I'll go hee for chasey" ???? what does it mean
Showed more heart though in battling on with his injury than many others so gains credit for that. His form going into the series and in the series (despite playing only the 2 matches) hasn't been great.
He's the one who will have to do the chasing in a game of chasey? As in, 'you're he'. Maybe it's a West Aussie phrase."I'll go hee for chasey" ???? what does it mean
Thanks for your reply.
The problems have been discussed endlessly here and in the press.
The reveiw will come up with recommendations , so who will implement them and how many will the implement ?
No its not about Warne, it is about senior players, including Katich being more concerned about their place in the team than how well the team is doing.
Players have to respect the system. It is the major problem at the moment as highlighted by Katich speaking out, that players don't respect the administrators (they don't have to like them but recognise that the players wouldn't be there if not for the people who actually run the game).
The message should be, regardless of contracts, the best 11 players at the time of selection are going to be picked.
That is all
The unfortunate part about that is that Clarke said, "if he continues to do what he has been doing". He's either done enough to stay there or he hasn't. Saying if he keeps on in the same vein he might get a recall suggests the selectors have made a bit of a **** up...something most seem to acknowledge.
