Cricket australia contracts

International Regular
Can only go by the Advertiser (again, it's the 'Tiser), but this is what they had,

"Top Dogs"
Michael Clarke - $2.1m (including $500,000 marketing retainer)
Shane Watson - $2m
Mitchell Johnson - $1.5m

"Million Dollar Men"
Michael Hussey - $1.3m
Brad Haddin - $1.1m
Nathan Hauritz - $1m
Doug Bollinger - $1m

"Middle Men" ($500,000 and under)
Ryan Harris
Phil Hughes
Steven Smith
Brett Lee
Ricky Ponting (!)
Callum Ferguson
Ben Hilfenhaus
Tim Paine
Shaun Marsh
David Hussey
Peter Siddle

"Basement Pay" ($160,000)
Patrick Cummins
Usman Khawaja
John Hastings
Xavier Doherty
James Pattinson
Jason Krejza

It's probably speculation, as they don't reference the prices in the article, nor on the website.

Haha, I like the $0.1m pride money they give Clarke over Watto.

Bit of a pay cut for Punter. Have much difficulty believing Hauritz earning $1m when they didn't pick him for how many matches though.

Reckon Hauritz's place in the list has to do with the fact that he'd be almost in the top 11 of both the Test and One Day lists when the contracts were compiled - Doherty would be high-ish on the OD list but wouldn't have factored on the Test one and Krejza would have been below Hauritz in both lists, certainly well below in the shorter forms.

Don't think that would be the right figure for Ponting - he's in the second year of a 2 year deal from memory so he wouldn't have faded the 'middle ground' - although the captaincy would have buffered his last contract.

Think it is a real shame that Mike Hussey is rated so highly - he had a wonderful Ashes but if our selectors had some gonads he'd have been dropped a year ago. The reverberations of that have cost Simon Katich his Test career. I know which bloke I'd rather have in my side - at the top or in the middle order.

Can't Bollinger being listed about Ryan Harris either who is a superior bowler in all forms of the game.

The best thing we may see out of this though is the selectors out of a job once the Argus review is done. We can hope at least.

hussey should have been dropped before the series against pakistan. Been woeful for the past few years except when he can play at home against a side that has a moron for a keeper

i hope the report will cause some changes. But then again, apparently losing the ashes and world cup hasn't even caused a blip in their ability to hold onto a job. In any other sport they'd have been canned in january

And between the two posts there have been a grand total of zero Tests, which just shows you've flipped-flopped.

Now coming up with different ideas and changing your mind isn't a bad thing as such, but to be so critical of something you yourself suggested and retracted not based on any change in performance since then (as there have been no matches) but just because you flip-flopped seems over the top. If you yourself had to hand out the contracts on January 9 or whenever it was you made that post you'd have flicked Katich as well so it can't be that much of a disgrace in your eyes.

At least you can appreciate how silly your posts seemed to the rest of us at the time now, I suppose...
You're the one who looks silly, pal. Deliberately excluding my post some time ago where I said Kat should be retained, Usman should open and Hussey should be dropped. So you exclude that post, and then go back to an earlier post and quote that as being my current position. What would motivate someone to trawl through a stranger's posts and deliberately misrepresent their current position. Guess you have a lot of time on your hands, and a fair deal of spite. :@

I didn't claim it was your current position at all tbh.

Yeah, her cricket record isn't that great really TBH. Not sure if she is one of the best players around, but then she's only 20.
