**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

Watching the highlights - watched without commentary in work anyway. Anyway, Mark Nicholas is claiming the Bell run out would have been given has Sri Lanka appealed. Thought I saw an appeal personally. Thoughts?

Have to say as a cricket fan i really hope Dilshan is fit for the last test but from an England point of view i would be happy if he wasn't as it would increase our chances of a win.

Thoroughly deserved his MOM award.

Yeha, I was joking about Cook. He was brilliant. The first morning on Sunday was one of the best batting performances I have witnessed live. Ponting at Headingley in 2009 probably the best, sadly.

Anyone heard of the story where Beefy was sent in to run Boycott out in New Zealand? Apparently Boycott hasn't spoken to him since!

Reminds me somewhat of this situation.
Sounds like win/win for Sir Ian.

Doctrove a strong contender for worst Test umpire atm
First in a field of one, IMHO. Although I may be overly dismissive of Bowden's claims.

Anyway, I thought it slightly soft we didn't take the last 15 overs, given we only needed six wickets and three of those were ferrets.

Hey ho.

Trott's test bowling average now less than his batting average, ftr. Makes him an all-rounder for my quid.

It's less than Maharoof's too, which is kinda sad and funny.

Yeah, don't wanna overdo the injuries thing especially given our much vaunted seam depth, but aside from Jimmy we also have Bresnan and Woakes crocked too.

whatever happened to the most vaunted attack.. Too reliant on one bowler?
Given that they put in probably their worst performance in a year and it was still good enough to claw back a first-innings lead, and later pick up three top-order wickets in just over a session, we can't quite write them off. They'll have better days.

Considering the pitch is on it's 5th day of use, it is still playing extremely well. This is a nailed on draw IMO.

No more Tests should be awarded to Lord's until they produce a pitch that represents a fair contest between bat and ball.

But there is more chance of the sun going supernova tomorrow than Lord's losing Test matches.
Pitch is only as poor as the bowlers who bowl on them. Given the appalling standard of bowling that has been on display in this game, it really makes no sense to blame the pitch.

Is cook really this good or just in the form of his life cashing in on a weak attack?I'm going to be following this guy's career with some interest for nxt 2 yrs.

he's in insanely good form, nobody is good enough to average 100+ over a long stretch.

The brilliant thing about Cook is that he's been able to scrape his way to a hundred even when out of form and against a good attack, such as Durban 2009 and the Oval last year. He's then gone on to cash in when it's all set up for him, such as the tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh.

The reason he's had so many critics over the years is that when he isn't scoring runs, he looks simply appalling.

I don't think anyone really expects this golden run to last forever, but hey, I have no problems with it.

one thing that holds back people from Cook's praise is he is not very attractive to watch. If a pretty batsman like ABD or KP was having this kind of run people would have already started hailing them as the next heir to Lara/Sachin/Ponting throne.
