'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

I would understand if Milton Friedman would prefer Standard Chartered but please do forgive me if I don't really rate Wasim Akram's choice in banking :p
Why? I like Standard Chartered albeit not as much as I like Wasim Akram. The girls in the call center are quite sweet when they force me to pay my overdue credit card statements.

On a separate yet related note, I love Wasim Akram.

because I think Wasim Akram really isn't a very good source for finding out how good a service or product is especially if it is not cricket related.

Loved this line in Kamran Abbasi's article on cricinfo :

Incredible as it sounds, where Imran the Cornered Tiger failed, Misbah the Mohali Goat might succeed.

Imran was facing Hercules while Misbah is facing sitting ducks.

Will be shocked if Misbah doesn't win this tbh.

would be surprised If Pakistan even get a drawn series with no Younis expect Bishoo to run through us atleast twice.

expect Ravi Rampaul to run through us when Bishoo doesn't..........

and expect Wahab riaz and Ajmal to run through the WI side........

so it will boil down to who gets skittled out cheaper

Cannot imagine WI are going to go in with four specialist bowlers (Edwards, Rampaul, Roach and Bishoo) aswell as Darren Sammy, as Cricinfo is suggesting. Would be a positive move in search of taking 20 wickets, but with Carlton Baugh at six it would surely make them too weak to post any meaningful totals.

Hope Edwards plays, be good to see him back in action, along with Roach and Bishoo. Unfortunately once again it looks as though Sammy will be holding a place he doesn't necessarily deserve. He must be economical and give the side some control.

Yousuf just scored a century in county cricket on an incredibly tough pitch. Ashley Giles has called it as one of the best hundreds he has seen. He should have been in the test team. He would have been an excellent guide for the young guys in the team like Azhar, Asad and Umar.

Still pak should win this 2-0.

Pakistan have a surprisingly good Test record over the last year given all the **** they've had. If Pakistan play like they did against New Zealand, they should take this series as the Windies seem much more likely to break down. Misbah will be the key for them playing solid enough cricket to get them through, what a comeback he's had.

WI batting honestly doesn't look up to the mark unfortunately. Baugh at 6 and only Sammy to follow means they'll struggle to go beyond 300-350 at best. Hoping to see Roach and Bishoo do well

with the pak batting line up 300 is definitely competitive

Pakistan will win this series 1-0.Saying that Pakistan will draw this series is another thing, but suggesting that we will lose it is downright ridiculous.

I suppose you think Zambia will beat us too?

I don't think it is beyond the realms to suggest WI can get something out of this series. Admittedly, and rightly so, Pakistan will begin as slight favourites for the series, but this WI side does possess one or two matchwinners with the ball in the form of Kemar Roach and Fidel Edwards, without mentioning the skills of Dev Bishoo. Of course the WI's ability to cope with a Pakistan attack that also contains its fair share of bowlers capable of troubling the opposition, is another issue, yet the re-introduction of Shiv Chanderpaul could be vital, Brendan Nash has been in useful domestic form, and so I don't think Pakistan can expect to necessarily have everything their own way.

I think the gap between Pakistan and WI's bowling lineups is big enough for us to start as more than just slight favorites TBH.Bishoo,Roach,Edwards vs Ajmal,Gul and Wahab falls in Pakistan's favour significantly as far as i'm concerned.Roach was very average during the ODI series, and to be fair, the only bowler who consistently troubled us was Bishoo.

Spin is likely to be a big factor in the series, and even if Ajmal and Bishoo are equally lethal,we have Hafeez to fall back on,and he's a pretty decent option. Also,Ajmal has a great test record.Whereas Bishoo has been impressive, whether or not he can have the same impact at Test Level is another a thing. Also,WI carry a genuine liability in Bishoo. His ineptness as a player and captain will harm WI.

Just because Roach was 'very average' in the ODI series (I do agree with you here) that is not to say he will be the same bowler in the Test format, as you then go onto suggest with Bishoo, who bowled well in the recent one-day series but is untested in Test conditions.

Roach has a very good Test record for one so young, and I would rather look at his previous Test performances than his ODI efforts to give us an idea of how he may or may not go in this series.

Don't get me wrong I think in Gul, Riaz, Ajmal, and to a lesser extent Tanvir, they will give WI some serious problems. You mention Hafeez, I certainly think he is a very good option and can be relied upon to produce some real control for Misbah with the ball.
