Yeah, Roach has been rested, probably with the Test series in mind....

The Test squad hasn't actually been announced yet, though indications are that Shiv is likely to play.

The IPL will be over by the time the India series is being played, so the ball will be in the court of the WICB where Gayle is concerned.

Congrats again Shivfan for the win. I'm just glad Pakistan only ****ed up after they won the series. Hafeez has been in great touch, hope this continues until he officially retires. And Ashoker needs to go.

Sort of how I thought the series would go. Pakistan would dominate but still manage to lose a couple.

Great result in the end.

It's weird how amazing Simmons has performed with what looks like such a weird technique at times

I'm really looking forward to the test series. Apparently Fidel Edwards has been included in the squad!

I'm a little concerned that Kraigg Brathwaite might be included. Seems too early IMO

Hope the performances of Rampaul won't make the WICB do anything stupid like select him in the test side. And if they had an issue with Sarwan's fitness, a batsman, having an opening bowler who is fat with two chins too many would presumably also be of some concern?

Apparently Fidel is going to be named in the test squad, so a possible attack of Roach, Edwards, Russell and Bishoo isn't that bad. Though maybe go with 2 spinners as its Providence and of course DJ Sammy has to somehow fit into that equation.

Good to see Lendi Simmons string a few scores together. Been a fan since the World 20/20 in 2009.

If Barath isn't fit, then there isn't many other options they have and it isn't the worst introduction to international cricket - a low key home series against an improving but still developing Pakistan test side. And Brathwaite should have debuted internationally over 2 years ago against Bangladesh, was in the squad but was overlooked for some guy who has long since faded from my memory.

A top 5 of Barath, Brathwaite, Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Bravo Junior is pretty good. Just need a number 6, a wicket keeper who can bat and a contributing captain.

I do wonder about the condition of Barath. Seems to get injured like a twig.

Yeah I suppose you're right. I just would have preferred he had some more first class experience before getting shoved onto the international stage. But I guess the only other options are to recycle some failures and this is a great opportunity for him.

I'm not sure on the best opening combination though with Gayle presumably not available until after the IPL

Nash isn't that bad. He's not that good either, but I certainly wouldn't be leaving him out to pick Brathwaite.

Not sure how Nash gets ignored there. Much more accomplished at international level excepting Sarwan and Chanderpaul.

Nash is the man. He is ideal for the number 6 spot. He averages around 40 and is actually stable mentally.

Good win for WI.Not bothered by yesterday's loss TBH,or the previous one for that matter.A 5-0 whitewash would have been awesome, but we outplayed them in 3 of the matches and were unlucky to lose the 4th one.And after we won the series in the 3rd match it was obvious that the next two matches would be taken lightly.

This builds up the test series nicely though.Expect Pakistan to win it 1-0.The only dissapointing part for me was Sadaf Hussain not getting a game.I was really looking forward to seeing him play. But with someone like Waqar as coach,he would probably know better as to how good Sadaf is and when he deserves a chance.

Personally, I share your concerns about Brathwaite. I don't want him to be made into another Xavier Marshall.

"Fifteen players have been invited to participate in a two day match on May 8th and 9th at the Demerara Cricket Ground in Georgetown. The 15 players are: Carlton Baugh, Devendra Bishoo, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Brendan Nash, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons, Devon Smith."

As a Pak fan I'm feeling that a test series victory may be slighty more difficult than the walkover I had envisaged! Pak have always had this ability to make distinctly average opposition players look like world beaters and struggle against them on thier day and If we gt some bouncy tracks I can see some real problems! Secondly I think were lacking a second spinner after ajmal I'm assuming rehman and hafeez will b the other ones used but there not really wicket takers, which is why I'd love to see ajmal and Kaneria bowling in tandem. I just get the feeling if WI find a way to play out ajmal and if Gul blows cold like he is capable of WI could get sum OK totals followed by sum Pak collapses...

Neways thats enough of my pessimism!!!! I'm sure Pak can do it!

So we have to rule out 4 of those players. Braithwaite has a decent chance of a selection.
