Awesome win. Rahman and Abedin were amazing. I was impressed by my two debutants in this game as well - Towhid Hossain scored 64, and Syed Rasel took 2-28 and 3-61.

So, a good ODI series win there. The spinners were excellent in all three games. But batting remains an issue in ODIs - apart from Aftab Ahmed (who was EPIC in the 3rd ODI), no batsman reached 50 in the series.

I've just finished the World Cup with my Bangladesh side, and unfortunately we were knocked out at the group stage after loses to Sri Lanka and India. The Indian loss was particularly disappointing given we'd manage to win the ODI series against them the previous season 3-0, and that we'd made 272 batting first only to have it chased down easily.

Just to summarise my results:
Tests: L 0-2 vs England, D 1-1 vs Sri Lanka, D 1-1 vs Zimbabwe, L 0-2 vs India, D 1-1 vs England, L 0-1 vs New Zealand (1 draw)
ODIs: 0-6 in ODI tri series, L 0-3 vs Sri Lanka, W 3-0 vs Zimbabwe, W 3-0 vs India, W 3-0 vs England, W 2-1 vs New Zealand

World Cup:
Sri Lanka 231/8 (Sangakkara 66, Atapattu 58, Rahman 4/59) beat Bangladesh 198 all out (Aftab Ahmed 97, K.Fernando 5/33) by 33 runs
Bangladesh 256 all out (Bashar 79, Arif Ahmed 67, A.Patel 4/48) beat Canada 69 all out (M.Islam 4/6, Rafique 4/9) by 187 runs
Bangladesh 272/6 (Bashar 77, Aftab Ahmed 49, Saleh 47*, N.Iqbal 46) lost to India 276/3 (Sehwag 94, Gambhir 88, Tendulkar 65*) by 7 wickets

All up I won 13/24 ODIs, so a ratio greater than 50% which is quite pleasing; although ultimately disappointing not to make it further in the World Cup. Test matches 3/10 including 1 draw.

The WC squad I chose was Arif Ahmed, N.Iqbal, Bashar, Saleh, Aftab Ahmed, Nuruzzaman, M.Islam, Rahman, Rafique, Miah, E.Sunny, Hasan, Razzaq, I.Islam and R.Haque.

Played him a handful of matches without much success; he only impressed in a FC friendly against Wellington where he took 8 wickets. My tactic was generally to play two quick bowlers in Haque, A.Islam and Rahman, and three spinners in Rafique, M.Islam and Hasan/Razzaq. That seemed to be a good strategy and allowed my side to bat deep with Rafique at 9/10.

Thanks - was really pleased with my ODI form, at one point we went on a winning streak of 10 ODIs. Test matches are still tricky but the batting's certainly improved with scores in excess of 400 against both England and New Zealand in the test series leading up to the World Cup. I guess the struggle is not having any real depth outside of the top 4-5 batsmen; no second team players of any quality came through and the existing depth is poor.

Just played the India series. I was going to pick the keeper you guys had all had luck with, Arif Ahmed, but he was injured. But the guy I picked instead, Sajjad Kadir, was a handy replacement.

That's more like it! Still a bit concerned with the batting - we were 189-2 at one point - but this was a good performance overall. Kadir = hero.

We took that chase in the 3rd ODI very slowly - took 48 overs to get to 163. Didn't want to take any risks.


So I stay in 9th place on the Test standings, but that ODI series win lifts me up past England to 8th on the ODI table. And it looks like England's my next opponent.

Great ODI series win Ed. I too won the ODI series against India after being demolished in the test series, it appears to me anyway as though the limited overs format certainly suits Bangladesh on ICC.

Am currently in the 2010-11 season and am proceeding decently good. Ranked 5 in tests and 4 in ODIs.

Have beaten SA both home (2-0) and Away(1-0) in tests. Lost to Pakistan away(1-0) and home(2-0) (The away series should have been a draw. A real heart breaker. Their last wicket had a partnership of 35 runs and left me needing to score 83 runs in 9 overs. I was stranded on 82. ).

Cannot play Kaneria at all. Every single time he rips through our middle order.

I think he's been there since the start - Ishraq Sonet is his full name. It says he made his FC debut in 2004. I think his 2nd XI average is only 40-odd, but he's looking good.
