Would imagine Lancs will need to post a very healthy first innings total, as there is a lot of strength in the Warwickshire batting. A middle order consisting of Jon Trott, Ian Bell and Mohammad Yousuf looks pretty good with Ricki Clarke and Tim Ambrose to follow. Jimmy Anderson may need to be at his best to get stuck into them with the new ball, but removing Varun Chopra (who currently averages over 100 this season) and Will Porterfield at the top isn't going to be a walk in the park either.

Lancs opting for the two spinners today, so presumably will have been pleased to have won the toss and batted first to bring Keedy and Kerrigan into play more prominently on the last day.

Finally, a good opening partnership for Yorks. Was a mistake to go without Sayers' stability, and he's nearly matched Lyth's speed regardless.

Interesting that Surrey have scored more than everyone else today (except Sussex, who have 3 more as I type) despite losing 5 wickets. A succession of good starts thrown away?

Hammilton-Brown always scores at a decent rate, looks like him and Ramps were going pretty well at some stage.

Going to this game tomorow, hoping to James Taylor for the first time and will be good to see Tremletts first outing of the season.

Root desparately needs the runs, if McGrath were fit he probably wouldn't be playing. Needs to take his chance now.

Move to Surrey has really done Tom Maynard some good, having a cracking season so far.

A good day at the office for the Sussex top order, over 300 up for 3. Another hundred for Ulysses and everyone else (so far) has also chipped in. Still ample opportunity to chuck it away, mind you, and I've no idea whether it's a complete batsman's paradise. We'll find out soon enough. But the top order firing for once is great news regardless.

We are awful at the moment so even if it is a flat pitch (which it almost certainly is) we will probably get less than 350.

Cork hardly got a wicket this season and although he has been superb sinche he joined it will be a difficult decision to be made when Kabir is back to full fitness.

Great day for Yorkshire, everyone contributing that's been to the crease, young Root getting himself some valuable runs, 89no with Bairstow on 50.
Jimmy and Tremmers straight back in the wickets, which is good to see.
Kieswetter has had a decent start to the season, with another ton today, to add to the one he got in the CB40 the other day.

Interesting to see Bell batting 3 and presumably Trott 4. Doesn't half give our middle order a boost having them 2 in there.
