Sounds like the odds are about right then (around 57% chance of less than 2.5 goals) so I'll stay away.

Cheers fellas. Appreciate it as always.

SHUT UP JAMIE REDKNAPP YOU MORON

Hernandez is not in front of the ball. Irrelevant if his head's in front of the defender. Jesus.

Something almost zen like in his ****wittedness.

Butch doing a very good job of not looking smug that it's all gone **** up for the Chavs since his (disgraceful) removal.

Yet how much does he get paid to do this?

I had a 12-year-old kid do linesman duties for me the other week who knew that rule properly (and applied it properly when the opposition school scored as well).

He's not there for his acumen, is he? Eye candy for the lasses and homosexualists, IMHO.

When Harry's genes kick in and his looks go he's ****ed.

Highly professional and competent performance from United - and comfortable in the end.

They'll be glad Drogba didn't start.

What is the rule btw?

IMO what should matter is where your feet are. If your feet are in line with the defender, then where the rest of your body is is, IMO, irrelevant.

"The 2005 edition of the Laws of the Game included a new International Football Association Board decision that stated being 'nearer to an opponent's goal line' meant that 'any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent typically being the goalkeeper). The arms are not included in this definition'."

Basically any part of the body that player can legitimately use to score will count as offside.

The most important thing in all of this, is that Carroll will help me score from corners in Fifa 11. :dj:
Indeed.

On a purely footballing note, it's probably worked out for Liverpool, even considering the ridonkulous amount of money spent. We now have two strikers, one world class, and one who probably will be in the not too distant future. Carroll's physique is a good thing for us aswell, nice to have a big man up front.
It's still early days, but I couldn't be happier atm.

More importantly, how does Clapo feel?

Thank **** Ancelotti's a clown, really wouldn't have felt good about facing Drogba for the full ninety. Was Torres even as good as Drogba when he was at his peak?

When they're both at their absolute best there's not a lot between them, but the answer imo is conclusively no.

I've always just about been in Camp Torres but in the past 12 months or so there's no question. Must be pressure to pick him after laying such a vast amount out.

Drogba would certainly have been harder to play against, in the same way that an on song Duncan Ferguson was probably a centre half's worst nightmare.

Nemanja Vidic to respond.

I'd probably give Drog the edge when they were at their respective peaks, but only by a hair's breadth. Point is, the only semi-reasonable argument for including Torres last night was that he's a former world-class player and has to be worth persevering with. But when you're leaving out Didier ****ing Drogba in order to do so, there's just no excuse.

Only far better.
Well duh, as Drogba is almost 2 strikers in 1.

Pretty sure back in the day, when you had the likes of Henry, Owen at his peak, Andy Cole, van Nistelrooy etc most defenders would still have said big Dunc was their hardest opponent.

Not the hardest. Shearer was seriously awkward to play against in that respect as well, and scored the odd goal or two to go with it.

I see where you're coming from, but honestly, I don't think that's what scares centre-backs. As a species they really tend to back themselves in any kind of physical battle, in this country at least. Alan Hansen once said he'd rather play against a Drogba than a Crespo (when both were at Chelsea, but before Drogba was one of the best in the world).
