I am not saying that is not good. Just that the standards he has set in tests are just too good. His ODI record pales in comparison.

Although the year 2008 with an average of 49.5 in ODI is awesome. As VCS points out it is 65 this year. that is bloody awesome by any standards
Given the strength of the Indian batting line-up even a quick 30 or 40 from him is a pretty decent contribution, one thing you gotta understand is that in LO cricket you gotta play according to your role and Sehwag's role is obviously to get India of to a brisk start.

I think people are confusing Sehwag the ODI player and Sehwag the test player. Sehwag in ODIs is quite ordinary really. Nothing special
Nothing much different between his ODI game and Test game I reckon. Still flays the bowling to all parts.

Hopefully it's a cracker whatever the result.

btw does anybody know how many matches McGrath played to get 26 wickets in the 07 WC?
11 matches. What's weird about that record is that he never took more than 3 wickets in a match, but did so 6 times. And he never went wicketless or even had to bowl a full 10 overs. Just all elaborates on the ****awesomeness of his team.

Interesting stats. There is no question that Lee, Tait and Johnson are going to be a huge challenge. It's pretty likely that 2-3 quick wickets will fall at some stage and the game could hinge on whether the lower middle order can stand up and show some fight.

On the positive side, Tait and Johnson are not exactly the most robust cricketers. They could spray the ball around under pressure as well.

The toss is obviously crucial. I have always believed that it's much harder to chase in a big game especially when the opposite side has attacking bowlers. If we do have to field first I am hoping there will be enough turn for the Indian spinners to do a mid-innings choke like SL managed in the 96 final and restrict Australia to a manageable target. Harbhajan is another player who needs to stand up in this game.

I'm just looking forward to those with free-to-air realising the game is delayed.
