West Indies have won two of the last thirteen completed matches against Pakistan.

That may well be the case, but in 2 of their most recent meetings in big events ie the world cup and the champions trophy the Windies have won comfortably.
Loses in series are one thing but the fact that the Windies have won 2 recent matches against Pak on the big stage says a lot about where the physiological balance of power lies in this match up.

Why is the Champions Trophy match played in 2004 more relevant than the Champions Trophy match played in 2009?

Because the champions trophy in 2009 the Windies were forced to play a 3rd string team due to contract disputes.

Pakistan were missing a number of players in the 2007 World Cup. Why does that count?

Missing one or two players, and having to play what at the time was a 3rd or possibly even 4th string team is a totally different state of affairs.

Don't personally see any relevance in who fielded what sides in the Champions Trophy either in 2004 or 2009. These are two generally inconsistent sides who are capable of producing anything from the sublime to the totally ridiculous on any given day. For all Pakistan's inconsistencies they have topped Group A by winning five of their six matches, and will no doubt fancy this challenge against the WI.

I never disputed your claim though. I know the West Indies side that played in that Champions Trophy was poor. I only brought up that match because you were talking about "the big stage". I fail to understand how two matches played years and years go (matches involving Brian Lara, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, etc.) are relevant. It's kind of like saying West Indies are second favourites for this World Cup, because they've won more World Cups than every team bar Australia.

There is a difference though between having the consistency to do i day after day and being good in a one off match up!
In tennis there was a great player called Pete Sampras, many believe that he on any given day can still beat any top 5 player but he cannot win a major title any more as he doesnt have the consistency or fitness required.
Likewise Windies do not have it in them to go all the way lack that consistency, but in a one off match against Pak they certainly can win and have a lot of positives to draw on not least the match in 2007

Yes WI was playing a 4th string team in 2009 and now the Pakistan team and the WI team are the same ones that faced each other in WC 2007.

Saying West Indies are capable of winning tomorrow is different from saying they hold some sort of edge over Pakistan because of matches played in 2004 and 2007 (particularly when the recent record is very much in Pakistan's favour).
Anyway - don't think West Indies will win tomorrow. The batting's too weak.

WI do have a chance but it is ridiculous to suggest that they hold the psychological edge because they won against Pak in 2004 and 2007. Both the teams are very different now and most of the players that played in those matches are no longer in the team.

Well, yes, theoretically West Indies have a chance. Realistically speaking, they don't have much of a hope. Their batting line-up is too heavily reliant on Chris Gayle - someone who isn't exactly consistent and reliable - and Pakistan's bowling is a bit too strong. Darren Sammy - a dude who can't bowl or bat properly - is captain of the side. Enough said.

Dude Inzy was leading that Pakistan with MoYo as an important hand. We had people like Sami and Asif (IIRC) back then. The Pakistan team is very different.
