Dernbach's had a good tour so far. Can't be long until he gets a ODI cap and goes for 100 like he does domestically.

I don't think the Lions will play the West Indies A team at all on this tour. In effect, the WI A team players are spread out amongst all the Caribbean teams.

With one day to go, defending champs Jamaica were struggling on 133-3, still 220 runs behind the CCC in a battle for first innings points. The hosts lost leading run-getter Marlon Samuels for 13, as well as openers Hyatt (53) and Jackson (25), while the not out batsmen are Nash (14) and Lambert (12). McClean, Austin and Kantasingh have all taken a wicket so far....

Chasing 183 for victory, Trinidad were reeling on 75-5 at stumps, having lost Simmons (16), Darren Ganga (14), Ramdin (0) and Imran Khan (1). Sherwin Ganga is 35 not out, and with him is Emrit on one, while the main destroyer for the Leewards to date has been Martin with three wickets, while Athanaze has taken two. Of course, Trinidad are without Morton, who remains in jail with Willett.

The Windwards collapsed from 309-5 to 350 all out, but still gained a nine-run first innings lead over Barbados. Fidel Edwards signalled a welcome return to form, taking 5-77, while there were three wickets for Best and two for Collins. Barbados were eight without loss at stumps.

Well they're not just going on tour, they're competing in the actual domestic competition, after which they'll return to play for their counties.

Not seen it because it's not televised, of course, but those who did on caribbeancricket.com say that this was the best indication that Edwards is on his way back to what he used to be. Still, there are a couple of rounds to go, so we'll see if he can do enough to merit a recall to the Windies side for the Paksitan tour of the Caribbean next month.

In the only match that produced a result, Trinidad's title charge was dented when they were beaten by about 30 runs by cellar dwellers Leewards. Martin took 5-41 and Athanaze 4-56 as they dismissed Trinidad for a mere 153, the only resistance provided by Sherwin Ganga with 77.

CCC took first innings points against defending champs Jamaica in their drawn game, medium-fast pacer Kevin McClean taking 5-79 to dismiss the hosts for 341, just 10 runs short of the tourists' first innings total. Spinners Austin and Kantasingh took three and two wickets respectively, as Hinds made 74 and Walton 51.

In their rain-ravaged game in Guyana, the Lions batted long enough to get first innings points, posting 87-3 with Bairstow ending on 32 not out and Hildreth on six.

Set 172 to win, the Windwards hung on for the draw and first innings points, reaching 89-7 at the close, with Browne topscoring with just 29. Collins and Best took two wickets each, with Edwards, Stoute and Holder all taking one wicket each.

It seems that Senior Bravo will be out for 8-12 months. Might sound like a poor thing to say, but I don't see this is as a necessarily bad thing in terms of looking forward towards future test series. As I said during the Sri Lanka series, you can't have Sammy and Bravo in the same team without significantly weakening the team and Bravo was severely under performing with both bat and ball

That said, a lot of the posters are very knowledgeable, and those who do make observations usually are informed posters.

And I agree with you about Dwayne Bravo - I couldn't see him getting into the Test side based on his poor returns in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately for him, he will miss the IPL now....

Despite losing to the Leewards, Trinidad gained enough points to stay within striking distance of leaders and defending champs Jamaica, who similarly had a hiccup in losing first innings points in their draw with the CCC. After the fifth round, it's tight at the top, with a mere 10 points separating the top five.

Jamaica lead with 39 points, followed by Trinidad on 37, Lions on 36, CCC on 33, and the Windwards on 29. Despite their win, Leewards are joint bottom on 15 points with Barbados, one point behind Guyana.

Sammy was under more pressure. He adds very little to the team. Bravo adds as much enthusiasm, more athleticism, and often more with the bat and ball. Even when he's off form. I was willing to give Sammy a chance as captain, but West Indies can't afford passengers, and Sammy is consistently proving he is one.

Yeah, his runs production seems to be quite impressive....

It will be interesting to see if he's called up to the A team. And as for the two A teams playing each other, I don't think it's quite necessary, because as the Lions are finding out, they're getting quite a bit of competition just playing the seven different territorial teams.

The England Lions recovered from a precarious 78-4 to reach 280-8 at stumps on the first day of their four-day game against the Windward Islands in the Caribbean domestic competition. James Hildreth hit a round hundred, and there were knocks from Bairstow (40), Rashid (35) and Woakes (37 not out). The other batsmen failed to make a significant impression, while Mathurin has taken three wickets to date, and Matthew two....

The other three matches start today, with leaders and defending champs Jamaica hosting main rivals Trinidad, surprise package Combined Campuses and Colleges playing Guyana, and Leewards taking on Barbados in a cellar clash.

An unbeaten partnership of 121 between Wavell Hinds (131) and Dave Bernard (55) has carried Jamaica to an imposing 297-5 against Trinidad on the first day of their top-of-the-table clash. Simon Jackson, Danza Hyatt and tamar Lambert all went cheaply, Marlon Samuels got a start (25) but failed to push on, but Brendan Nash chipped in with an important 66 as Jamaica rebuilt their innings agianst one wicket each for Shannon Gabriel, Rayad Emrit, Lendl Simmons, Sherwin Ganga and Amit Jaggernauth.

After the second day of their match, the England Lions bowled the Windwards out for 237 to secure a 65-run first-innings lead, thanks to 3-51 from Danny Briggs, and two wickets each for Chris Woakes, Adil rashid and Carter. Kevin James and Polius hit 40s for the Windwards, who struck back just before the close, Nelon Pascal taking the wicket of Craig Kieswetter for nine to reduce the Lions to 20-1 at the halfway stage of their match.

Led by WI-hopeful Kyle Corbin, who hit 96, the CCC made 251 all out, aided by Floyd Reifer, who also hit 37, and an unbeaten half-century from pacer Kevin McClean, who also took the wicket of opening batsman Richard Ramdeen for one, to reduce Guyana to 11-1 at stumps at the end of Day One of their game. For Guyana, captain and dibbly-dobbler allrounder Assad Fudadin took 4-42 and spinner Veerasammy Permaul snared three wickets.

In the cellar battle, Fidel Edwards took 5-57 and Stoute 4-41as Barbados bowled out the Leewards for 277, Hamilton topscoring with 83, while Peters made 57, and tailender Martin struck 42 not out.

Why is the team stuck with Sammy? Does he have an unbreakable, lengthy contract? Because AFAIK the captaincy is reconsidered on nearly a series-by-series basis.
