I wonder how the CricketWeb in Libya is going.

I hope senior moderator Colonel EWS has infracted Gaddafi, 'cause that crazy mofo be trollin'.

So basically you want every post that could possibly rile up someone else infracted?

Honestly,GIMH you and even GF get riled up too easily. And it does not neccesarily mean that every post you get riled up against has to be infracted.

For example-

Australia clear favorites now.

England are not that good at ODI cricket ,still.
8-)

Yeah, two matches (one still in progress that we could yet win) without our bowling attack tell you that. Ignore our recent series wins over Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa.

Obviously our batting hasn't fired here but what a ridiculous call to just label us as not that good based of it. Ridiculous.
Our best bowler being available wouldn't have made a difference though don't you know.

Either that or Cevno is the latest India fan to feel threatened by England stringing a few results here and there over the last 18 months and as such feels the need to call us crap. Take your pick tbh.
Just because i say England are not that good at ODI cricket you call me the "latest Indian Fan" to be threatened by them.

Didn't England have a break of more than one month before the Ashes?
Every time you try and correct me on something, your point has already been covered in my post. I clearly said that they went straight from the Pak ODIs to a training camp and then flew to Australia. Why don't you read my posts properly before you respond to them because I'm tired of repeating myself just because your comprehension skills are questionable.
They had a break after the training camp ,though?
They flew to Australia in October. The home season ended in September. The training camp came between these. Move along.

A - no I wouldn't
B - I already apologised for it anyway
C - you're easily the most annoying poster on CW
The training camp was for 5 days and started in september.

The flew out to Australia on 29th october.

Don't know how good you are in counting but a quick look at the calendar will tell you that 29th is not either the 4th or 5th day in october.:p

A)Yes you would.

B)Fair Enough Then. Guess i missed it.Was a bit understandable in any case.

C) I take that as a compliment i guess.

Here you question my comprehension ability just for stating the facts.

Dhoni mentioned it after the last match and it actually becomes easier to bat in the second innings with the ball coming on quicker on that Bangalore pitch.

Still great performance by Ireland!!!!

Superb.

Specially Kevin O'Brien. What A Innnings!!!!!

Did Dhoni bat second dig did he? No. So he can STFU, making excuses for his team's piss poor defence.

I'd be embarassed if I heard Strauss saying that tonight.

And this.Though you later apologised about it.

Basically you get riled up as soon as someone says something negative about the English team and the worst part is you get so abrasive about it.

Lol Cevno, just lol

I don't think you're a troll but I think your posts are **** and I don't like you. I react to your posts because they are filled with uninformed crap.

As for me being riled too easily...well that's your opinion and plenty share it. Just like plenty share my opinion that other posters are offended by things they shouldn't be. Hence the whole basis of my argument.

I'd like to know why sledger's post is trolling but when posts actually cause offence and reactions from England fans, they aren't. Where SS's posts in the match thread not likely to cause a reaction? yes they were.

Did some others cause reactions? Yes. I got pulled up for three posts, all were riled up responses to other posts. One poster got banned but only one of the three was to him. Sledger was infracted because he could have caused offence; others visibly did yet we're told we are being too precious.

The infraction for Sanz perhaps shows some of our feedback is being taken on board and that's a good sign. The refusal to overturn past decisions that were crass is galling but if things get better it won't be an issue.
Exhibit B in how to make a reasonable argument. ;)

This is an entirely valid concern. At the moment, trolling (unlike abuse) is being treated as an intent-based rather than result-based offence. That is, if we believe a poster is purely attempting to rile someone with their post, and isn't just making a harmless joke or a genuine cricket point, then we'll give it an infraction. Hence, posts which people find offensive that we believe to have been misinterpreted or had no conclusive nasty intent won't be given infractions unless they are abusive.

The problem with this is that it's very subjective, so while we as a moderation group believe it is entirely fair (and I'll ensure you it is no matter how many times you disagree) it doesn't always give the perception of fairness, particularly to those who insist on looking at posts in isolation rather than context. It's a significant problem and one we're discussing in the mod forum at the moment, but it's also a rather ironic problem to come from the infraction system, as one of the main goals we set out to do was remove the subjective intent-based moderation on the way we've handled abuse. We had a score of new members unable to differentiate between, for example, your posts calling Burgey a **** light-heartedly and their posts calling Burgey a **** maliciously, so we set out to give warnings (and eventually infractions) to all posts that could interpreted as abusive regardless of intent. Somehow, the new system has delivered us exactly the same problem with a different offence (trolling). Trolling in general is a much greyer area though, and it'll be harder to sort out, but we're discussing possible changes.

While these are genuine concerns and while they are being discussed currently, though, I definitely think people need to chill a little bit. In the grand scheme of things, sledger getting one infraction a few people think is dodgy is not the end of the world, even if the same people think it's not going to be consistently applied for the next forty years. I'm going to go on the record and say that this isn't perfect, and that we might (shock horror) get things slightly wrong on rare occasions. I'm not saying this is one of those occasions, but if you think it is, I still don't think it quite deserves the carry on it has received, particularly given he didn't get banned for it. If he does end up getting banned after another infraction he'll sit out a massive holiday of about two days. His infraction is not under review and it will not be reversed. He himself openly admitted that he made the post in order to provoke, and that was extremely obvious at the time. I know this was not the subject of your post, but I thought I'd get that in now.

While I welcome comments about the infraction system as a whole, the constant reference to one infraction and the resulting conspiracy theories about India are not worth our attention. I've taken the time to reply to your post as you've actually touched on an important issue and not just rabbited on about that one infraction; I appreciate your contribution.

****ing EWS; he might be **** at running sims but he's so much better than the other mods it's not funny. And that's not an insult to the others btw.

Brilliant, not one example given of me getting riled. Second time that's happened in this thread where people have slung accusations at me with precisely zero evidence provided.

First time anyone has ever referred to Benchy as clever in his life.

And even if it was sarcastic, he'll take it.

So now infractions extend in length if you gain another infraction for the same offence? Sorry, I just don't get that.

Well, if you've been infracted for something and you keep doing it, the punishment should get progressively worse, or at least stay for longer. That was the thought behind it (and it's been like this since implementation AFAIK).

I personally think it makes sense, but if people have other feelings about it, I'm open to being convinced otherwise, and I'd be happy to listen and bring it up with other mods.
