It is so amusing to see the likes of GIMH, GingerFurball, Burgey , Got_spin and sledger getting so worked up and complain about moderating. All they do is mock Indian fans and cricketers at the slightest opportunity disguising their slight of the Indian members, cricketers and Indian fans as humor and now that the infraction system is working against them, they are complaining about the moderators, racism and when nothing else works they are complaining about the not using the "Cambridge" Dictionary.

I am not a fan of the infraction system but It is nice to see some consistency being applied here and I must say it has been long overdue.

I thought the Ashes threads were okay with the odd day that exploded. But then I know some people were upset with my posting in them so I dunno.

I guess one-day match threads are more likely to spill over quicker compared to slow burners like The Ashes which just had the hot spots that Jono referred to.

I'd like to go on record and agree with Jake btw. The period from the appointment of new mods last summer up to infractions coming in is easily the best period of moderation since I've been here. The change was unnecessary and has turned good moderators into...well, I dunno. Bad ones?

Edit - by change I mean approach. Infractions aren't the problem its the way they are being applied. I actually thought infractions were a good idea, but that's because I was naïve enough to assume nothing else would change much.
Transalation :- "it is a bad idea now because I can't get away with the things I used to in the past, I don't like a system that is fair, I like only the system where I am protected but others are not, Time to Change the system and/or moderators" .

Sanz surprisingly popping in with a bile-filled post.
Burgey Calling 1.2 Billion plus Indians as Buffoons

Lol. If Sachin Tendulkar was ever charged with a crime, there would be 1.2 billion plus buffoons then. I'm tipping you'd read an article about it.
Burgey On Illegal betting

Just ban India until the illegal betting is weeded out there.
Burgey on Hating India.

Nah. India the new-monied trash neighbours of cricket ATM. Plenty of hate.

Called Migara a buffoon tbf. He said what happened with Player's private lives, including their being charged with a crime, is only news to buffoons.

India is the seat if illegal betting on cricket, as the rest of the post which you chose not to quote said

And India vs England. Yeah forgive me. After hoping for a nil all draw I said there are lots of reasons to hate India, not just England. That's one of them.

So Sanz, keep the selective quotes coming.

Sanz, I agree that there has been a lot of unnecessary complaining at the moderators in this thread. But when you say things like "All they do is mock Indian fans and cricketers..." and proceed to edit the quotes to strip them of context, it does make you look a touch foolish.

If you have a problem with posts that you believe are racist, report them and moderators will discuss them. There's no need to inflame this, or any other, thread by making accusations.

This thread is for discussion of the infraction system and forum rules, and more specifically for providing us with constructive feeback about them. It is not for posters to throw insults backward and forward. Any more of that from now on, and it will be removed.

Tbh, While I do think sirmallya and vicelggie(both got banned) were trolling in the Ind-Eng thread, I don't anyone else was. G_S-gate was cleared up a few pages ago and

I certainly think it's a bit OTT to complain so much about about anything else on the thread. I think the perception that if posts like - 'England is bowling like a minnow  " or "India should get their ODI membership revoked if Engalnd chase this  " - were targeted on India they would have been moderated more is false. I don't consider them to be racist, inflammatory or trolling tbh.

I still haven't seen the supposedly 'racist' posts GIMH referred to in OT. I'm genuinely interested because obviously it's a huge issue and if the English posters were racially offended it needs to be discussed.

Hmmm, Sanz contributing to yet another thread in a wholly constructive way, I wonder which position the powers that be will adopt this time in order to ensure he's comfortable whilst he blows his beans down their throat.

Anyway, I'm not really up for debating whether there's any pro-Indian bias on the forum or whatever, I personally think there is, but I'm not going to dig up posts and so on in order to make a point which will doubtlessly be vilified and ignored.

My issue is with the "Buffoon" business. YES, I can accept that the post I made for which I was infracted was perhaps not made in good faith, it was an attempt at some sort of provocation, I'll concede, but the majority of the posts I make are, and if I had called more or less any player who was not Tendulkar a buffoon (or anybody who doesn't post exclusively in CC for that matter) the whole thing would have been overlooked. Similarly, me suggesting that Murali would be called for his action in another thread and being infracted for that as well was incredibly stupid. Pretty sure it never happened IRL after all. But of course, it would be a terrible indictment on the forum were such posts to be allowed. His mother might be reading, or someone else who thinks he ****s gold eggs. But of course, as was pointed out to me by the moderation team, "the forum is not full of people who are your mates", and so consequently all comments made in jest/banter are completely proscribed, logically so indeed.

I've said this already, but had I said something that was provocative in an offensive/obscene way then I'd deserve a caution, but if people are going to claim it offends their being to read words like "Buffoon" and "Chucker" then...well, I don't think it really reflects well on their character to be completely honest. I don't wish to single out any particular group of fans when making this point either, it's just a bizarre few decisions, the logic and reasoning for which that has been submitted in this thread is tenuous at best.

I wonder how many infractions points this one was worth, I won't hold my breath.

Whew. What a long post. The words 'dullard' and 'windbag' spring to mind, but I fear they may upset someone ;)

[insert Richard's generic 'jest' disclaimer here]

Sanz, your posting in here is clearly trying to rile up other members and will be infracted.

GF, that doesn't excuse your (now deleted) abusive post to Sanz, especially given that you'd been explicitly told to drop it, and you'll also be facing an infraction.

As fos has said, this thread is here to discuss the moderation and infraction system. It's not a chance to trade insults.

You actually would've got the infraction even if you'd called Adolf Hitler a buffoon in that post. You weren't given an infraction for insulting a player or specifically for using the word buffoon, but for trying to rile up the poster you were replying to. It was pretty obvious, and that's what the trolling infraction is for.

There are indeed several points about that whole situation you could argue, and there's no doubt it was a bit of a borderline case, but when you bring up the fact that it was Tendullkar your argument immediately loses all credibility as it had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I'd like to know why sledger's post is trolling but when posts actually cause offence and reactions from England fans, they aren't. Where SS's posts in the match thread not likely to cause a reaction? yes they were.

Did some others cause reactions? Yes. I got pulled up for three posts, all were riled up responses to other posts. One poster got banned but only one of the three was to him. Sledger was infracted because he could have caused offence; others visibly did yet we're told we are being too precious.

The infraction for Sanz perhaps shows some of our feedback is being taken on board and that's a good sign. The refusal to overturn past decisions that were crass is galling but if things get better it won't be an issue.
