Ajmal IMO.If Pak are watching this, then Rehman needs to open the bowling against NZ.

Fields well, offers a little down the order and is in good batting form, can bowl middle over darts. Warmed to him a fair bit lately tbh.Yep, he's as bits and pieces as you get in ODI cricket.
Haha, you really don't rate Guptill much do youIf Pak are watching this, then Rehman needs to open the bowling against NZ.
Whatever you do though, don't say he looks like a hack. Even if you qualify your post by saying he's an effective one day cricketer worthy of his spot in ODI cricket, you can't call him a hack.Yep, he's as bits and pieces as you get in ODI cricket.
We depend on his batting quite a bit to be fair.Yep, he's as bits and pieces as you get in ODI cricket.
Pretty much the definition of a good bits-and-pieces player though really, isn't it?Fields well, offers a little down the order and is in good batting form, can bowl middle over darts. Warmed to him a fair bit lately tbh.
Too much flight. McCullum could get after him. Rehman is no frills, just darts in the mould of Ray Price. Probably wouldn't even consider Ajmal with the form of Afridi.Ajmal IMO.
Nah, not at all. I start warming to him, plays some cracking shots, very easy on the eye then I see him against genuine pace or any decent spinner/darter and he is clueless.Haha, you really don't rate Guptill much do you
(Not that I can blame you of course)
Haha so true, which is why I hate when we bowl first against bum sides**** were awesome against teams worse than us!
Meh, once the batsmen start doing their jobs again Nathan McCullum will become pretty redundant unless his bowling improves quickly. We depend on his batting quite a bit to be fair.
So who do you play then? Boult?Meh, once the batsmen start doing their jobs again Nathan McCullum will become pretty redundant unless his bowling improves quickly.
Sorry to be the cynic, but I don't think there's ever been a NZ team where the lower order wasn't an essential part of the majority of innings.Meh, once the batsmen start doing their jobs again Nathan McCullum will become pretty redundant unless his bowling improves quickly.
Optimism FTW.Meh, once the batsmen start doing their jobs again Nathan McCullum will become pretty redundant unless his bowling improves quickly.
I doubt he'll ever be what you'd call "good"; it's not going to be a strength for him. He may become decent enough for it not to be a weakness for him though. He's certainly good enough on the front stool against the quicks.Guptill is getting a lot of practice against spin bowling lately. Whats the bet he will be a good player of spin in a couple of years.
Maybe Astle in a couple years. Wagner, Boult etc all the usual candidates. So who do you play then? Boult?
I think some of his inability to play spin is just that he is from New Zealand. I mean how many quality spin bowlers are there? Vettori, Patel maybe Nathan McCullum? Experience will help to be honest. We'll just see his capability to learn. Looks to me like someone a bit more mature than Taylor, McCullum and co.I doubt he'll ever be what you'd call "good"; it's not going to be a strength for him.
