West Indies Domestic Season 2010/11

Some really impressive and contrasting statistics. It's weird to see so many batsmen with high averages and bowlers with low ones. Good to see Brathwaite scoring runs. Is Fidel still injured? I thought he was back or just not taking wickets

Jade Dernbach's average is everything wrong with West Indies cricket. :p

What's Keiswetter's strike rate, out of interest? Hammered his hundred against CCC.

Yeah, Fidel is back, and he's played most of Barbados' matches, but understandably he's been rusty and not back to full pace yet, unlike Taylor, who's looked as good as he was at the top of his powers....

I don't think Fidel is ready for a return to the WI team just yet.

Here's the full list of wicket-takers....

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/wi4da...t_wickets_career.html?id=6446;type=tournament

Fidel has taken eight wickets from three matches at an average of just under 35.

Of the top 12, it's good to see a mixture of pace and spin for a change, as Beamer pointed out earlier.

Yeah fair enough. Has Taylor broken down again?

Serious concerns over the number of injuries that West Indian players seem to suffer from. Bit late but I'm really pleased Samuels declined an offer to join the World Cup suqad too

No, his grandmother died, so he missed Jamaica's last match. This weekend there are no matches, so he should be back in the side for next weekend's fifth round, I think.

I agree with you about Samuels. Let him concentrate on four-day cricket, IMHO. The good thing is that the WICB have issued a statement fully supporting his decision.

Jamaica lead the standings with 36 points, followed by Trinidad on 33, and the Lions in third place on 30. In fourth place are the CCC on 27 points, with the Windwards close behind them on 23. Then, there is a gap between them and Guyana, who are sixth with 13 points, followed by Barbados on 12, and the Leewards in last place on just three points.

Jamaica and Trinidad have both won twice, while the LIons could only manage one win to date, and that against cellar team Leewards. It seems that while the Lions have batted well, they've had difficulty bowling sides out in the second innings, Leewards aside. Trinidad have had an up-and-down first half of the season, but Jamaica have been very impressive to date, having dominated all their matches, with a bowling attack that has generally delivered when needed. That said, Jamaica are yet to face pre-tournament favourites the England Lions, which will be their biggest test.

The CCC have punched above their weight, going into this tournament heavily tipped to finish with the wooden spoon, and the Windwards are another team that's still in the reckoning for a semi-final place. But Guyana's batting has been disappointing, while Barbados' bowling attack has failed to live up to its billing. All round, the Leewards have looked like a poor team, aside from one or two players....

Braithwaite in the runs again. Liking it. Looking for Samuels to continue his maturing process too.

At the end of the first day's play, Trinidad were 47-3 replaying to the Leewards 211 all out. Bowler Gavin Tonge topscored for the Leewards with 44, while Imran Khan took 3-27, and there were two wickets each for Rayad Emrit and Amit Jaggernauth as Trinidad bowled the Leewards out cheaply. But the hosts lost Lendl Simmons (4), Runako Morton (7), and Darren Ganga (1), as Justin Guillen remained not out on 25 to date. Tonito Willett has done the damage so far with two wickets.

Brathwaite was out for 57 as Barbados were 201-4 at stumps in their match against the Windwards. The other batsmen out are Jason Haynes (31), Kyle Hope (10) and Jonathan Carter (33), while Stoute was not out on 45, and with him was stand-in captain Brooks on 21. Sebastien has taken 3-50 so far....

In their rain-affected match, CCC reached 90 without loss, Omar Phillips on 53 and Romel Currency on 27.

Bad weather prevented any play in the Guyana-Lions game....

Hopefully the loins can get enough play in to at least get a first innings lead. Guyana are 61/5 now so there certainly seems a bit in the pitch

Guyana are down to 69/7 now, Woakes takes two in two balls. Pitch regardless, good stuff from the Lions. Very attacking stuff from Hildreth too, which is good to hear. They're going after a result.

Guyana all out for 78. Woakes finishes with figures of 10-4-18-5.

Edit -

The Lions' innings lasted 7 overs before bad light stopped play, closing on 42-0. Kieswetter hit two fours and a six off one over from Beaton (2-0-24-0), and finishes on 21* with Lyth on 17*.

Guyana's batting woes continue, as they were dismissed for a mere 78 all out....

Woakes took 5-18, and there were three wickets for Harris, and two for Dernbach. The Lions were 42 without loss at the close, Kieswetter on 21 and Lyth on 17.

The CCC were 253-7 at stumps at the halfway stage of their match against Jamaica. Corbin topscored with 76, and the not out batsmen are Bonner (4) and McClean (15). Richardson and Brown have taken three wickets each so far.

With a first innings lead of just 19, Trinidad reduced Leewards to 30-2 at the close of the second day, Gabriel removing both Peters (8) and Williams (0). The not out batsmen are Jeffers (12) and Liburd (6).

Dowrich hit 56 not out and Holder 31, as Barbados made 341 all out, against Sebastien 6-97. In reply, the Windwards were 116-2 with two days to go, having lost Theophile for one and Browne for 12. Fletcher is 53 not out, and with him is Lesporis on 45.
