It is a practice match to be fair, you wouldn't expect them to be completely switched on.Seriously this is some pretty brainless batting from the Aussie middle order.

Why bother even turning up if you aren't switched on, the Indian game should have been sort of a wake-up call for many of these middle order bats but apparently nothing much has changed since the last game.It is a practice match to be fair, you wouldn't expect them to be completely switched on.
We're never switched on for tour matches/warmup matches. Don't like it, but that's how it is.Why bother even turning up if you aren't switched on, the Indian game should have been sort of a wake-up call for many of these middle order bats but apparently nothing much has changed since the last game.
You meant the opposite, right ?This is absolute nonsense from Australia to treat this as a proper ODI game.
I agree that our batting performances are only likely to improve during the worldcup, but that would be because we would be playing on flat decks and not because any of the batsmen would be trying any harder than they are now. We're never switched on for tour matches/warmup matches. Anyway, I'm less fussed about it then most here. Watson obviously got a good one, two runouts and a howler make things a bit hard to establish. It's good to see Ponting facing balls and Clarke looking reasonably fluent.
I'd not expect three genuine gift wickets of specialist bats per game tbh.I agree that our batting performances are only likely to improve during the worldcup, but that would be because we would be playing on flat decks and not because any of the batsmen would be trying any harder than they are now.
No... what I meant was we are playing with 11 guys whereas the Saffers are using their whole squad. You meant the opposite, right ?

Oh okay. I think Australia should be able to defend this (or at least stretch South Africa to the limit), if the pitch is anything like the one we saw in the India-Australia game.No... what I meant was we are playing with 11 guys whereas the Saffers are using their whole squad.
Alright... so we have been bowled out for 217 and once again we failed to bat the 50 overs!!
Another reason to take results from this with a grain of salt. You generally don't face 6 or 7 specialist bowlers in a match...No... what I meant was we are playing with 11 guys whereas the Saffers are using their whole squad.

Hopefully the goddamned telecast will be as well.hopefully it will be switched on full on Monday - Aus vs Zim
I can see South Africa reaching this total very comfortably about 3 down and say 8 overs to spare.Oh okay. I think Australia should be able to defend this (or at least stretch South Africa to the limit), if the pitch is anything like the one we saw in the India-Australia game.
Yeah... Krezja, Smith and Dussey all to wreck havock with the ball during the middle overs...Oh okay. I think Australia should be able to defend this (or at least stretch South Africa to the limit), if the pitch is anything like the one we saw in the India-Australia game.
True. On the other hand, Australia might not have reached 200 if Botha and Parnell hadn't bowled.Another reason to take results from this with a grain of salt. You generally don't face 6 or 7 specialist bowlers in a match...
