The 80 odd not out he made last week surely would have pushed it over 60? :p
Yep, does now. 62.11 from 27 matches.

Definitely a walk in after the world cup (and presumably Styris and Oram retiring).

I'd have Elliott ahead of both though for the WC. Srs. Unless Cribb finds more filthy stats on the only Wellingtonian worth supporting.

Personally, I'd much rather they back the 20 year old that averages over 60 in domestic one day cricket instead of dropping him every third game.
AWTA. The guy has obvious talent and huge potential.
If the selectors are trying to destroy the confidence of the most exciting NZ batting talent to emerge in decades, they're doing a great job.

Despite Elliott's recent decent knocks for Wellington I still wouldn't be so ready to bring him back into the setup. Otherwise Broom would be.

Elliott's done a bit of a How as well tbh. Started well but in his last 15 ODIs he averages 19 at a strike rate of 58. His last ten games are even worse - he averages 12 and strikes at 49.

Elliott would be invaluable on the reserves. If Franklin gets injured, there's no one to save us when we collapse.

Good old Wellington giving their middle order innings ressurection practice.

It's a bit different though, as Elliott's had success in ODIs before; Broom was always just poor at ODI level. You could make a case for Elliott having a prolonged period of cyclical poor form that is now over - not that I would, myself, but you could.

Broom to be brought into the ODI team again before failing and never ever getting a Test chance. Can see it happening after the world cup.
