On another note, excellent knock by Misbah. In some incredible form. Kudos to Pakistan, they've got us well outgunned in two key departments-death bowling, and death batting. Dunno what's happened, we used to be seen as pretty dangerous when it came to the tight situations.

You really are the ultimate whiner. No?

But I'm sure you aren't the first,or the last one.I'm just glad people like you are proven wrong time and again by a win. What makes it more satisfying is when you people write the team off,and they come back to prove everyone wrong, whether that is before a match,or during a match.

I'll speak to you when we win this World Cup.Thankyou very much.Till then, happy cribbing.

Have to think, going into the World Cup, Pakistan really are dark-horses. Could quite easily get a semi-final spot and then who knows.

Does anyone know why Shoaib Akhtar isn't playing?
Fitness issues.Afridi mentioned something along those lines recently.Personally,i'd want Shoaib back in the team inplace of Tanvir. The former atleast has a trick or two up his sleeve, and is still capable of beating the batsman with pace time and again.Tanvir on the other hand,is completley unimaginative as a bowler.

If Turbinator supports his team through thick and thin, and is always backing the team to win even when they lose 15 matches in a row or need 150 runs with 1 wicket in hand, then i have great respect for him,and i'm glad to be compared to him.

Like i said.That's the difference between a fan,and a neutral observer.

I remember Southee bowling some bloody brilliant yorkers - after bowling wholesale tripe in his opening spell - to White/Clarke to keep the 2nd T20 last year to a tie last year. What happened to him?

Surprised that today's match almost went down to the final over, certainly wouldn't have tipped that after we were 5/79. Quality recover although I feel that 260 is if not par, then below par, at McLean Park. Great innings from Misbah after Pakistan almost butchered their chase. Would've been interesting had we had another specialist bowler (Mills/Oram) to strangle the Pakistanis, Misbah especially, in the final few overs.

Easier for Pak once they get back onto subcontinent conditions. Get Rehmann in for Tanvir and then its a decision on whether Shoaib can replace either Gul or Riaz. Shoaib didn't comeback well in the UAE but in NZ he hasn't even started well. Be a concern given the conditions are likely to be more oppressive in the subcontinent.

Don't think bowling is Pak's problem, batting still looks iffy and Khan and Misbah tried their best today to make things harder than they should have been. Woke up watching Bennett bowl in the 35+ over, Pak beyond the ball rate and Khan is tapping back harmless deliveries to the bowler.

Gul won't be dropped. He's been our most consistent fast bowler for a while now.I think they've got the spin department covered with Hafeez and Afridi.Hafeez doesn't seem to get a lot of credit, but he's a very intelligent bowler.Plus Afridi isn't your run of the mill spinner, but he can be a very vital bowler.

I don't see Wahab being dropped either, since he's done a good job after taking over from Asif/Amir.One of Rehman or Ajmal might play a role in the World Cup,but it would all depend on how the pace attack performs in the first one or two games.Going by how our bowling attack is shaping up in the series against NZ,i think it's going to be an all pace frontline attack, aided by Hafeez and Afridi.Different conditions i know, but if it's not broke, why fix it.

Rehman was excellent in the UAE and Pak played 3+ spinners there. Really can't see them going in with 5 pace options (if you include Younis Khan :)) in the WC.

Younis Khan :D

We'll just have to wait and see. I still think they'll go with the current attack unless they get owned in some match.

Nah Hafeez and Rahman should pretty much be the 2 spinners imo, Rehman is a potential waste of space.

Afridi needs to try Akhtar to see if he is match fit in the next ODI, if he is then for the world cup we should go with Akhtar, Gul and Riaz with Afridi and the professor as spinners, if he isn't fit then swap Tanveer for Ajmal or Rahman.

Shoaib won't play the next ODI i think. If we manage to wrap up the series in the next game, then he could play in the last game.
