Nice catch by John Wayne, had a good night.

Stuff Watto. Double wicket maiden (incidentally only the second maiden of the series for us...)

Feeble/Gutless top order isn't going to bode well when inevitably chasing big scores in WC.

Doesn't help chasing mid-range scores here either.

Series is now in the bag, but I think there are still plenty of issues surrounding our team. From the way I see it, we have won this series only because English batting has been even worse than ours.
Smith and Lee's bowling and Watto's all-around skills have been pretty much the only positives to come out of this series so far...

This second spell from Johnson has been much much better.

Smith deserves a shout too. 8 overs, 1/27 is an excellent return for a leggie.

I would say it was that bad. There have been quite a few good performances scattered throughout the series.

I wonder if they are that bad, then how come they have managed to win pretty much every ODI series they have played in the last 12 months!!
Probs because it's no great feat to beat Bang and Pakistan without their two best bowlers. Or Aus without their first choice attack. Winning in SA was the exception, but you have to conclude that it was just one of those things - like WBA having a decent run in the EPL earlier this season.

It was more our batting that let us down in the first half of that series tbf, rather than the bowling. Too many starts, not enough big scores. Bit like today in a way.

EDIT: Have a look at the bounce Johnson is getting! Don't think Shazhad is enjoying this too much

He is bowling at the tail so that really doesn't say much, but still he has barely bowled at the stumps which is just not acceptable in modern day LO cricket.
Also when I talked about positives... I mentioned performers who have been consistent through the series, because a one-off performance isn't good enough to make a difference to a side's fortunes through a course of a series.

Yes it is. There are five games in the series so far that show the opposite. That's LO cricket mate. One massive individual performance usually wins it.

England's ODI batting in fine fettle I see. Atleast they are not making the mistake of peaking too soon.

Indeed, this is the first match where you would say it was a "team" effort in that it was contributions from many people rather than one huge contribution that ought to win us this match.

EDIT: I guess Sydney is another example

Not sure about that mate, don't have no love for the English side but still you guys made it into the Champions trophy semi-final and also won the T20 world championship, the problem right now is that you lot have gone back to the likes of Prior, Bell and Wright who have done absolutely nothing in the LO formats to deserve to be in the worldcup squad, it also doesn't help that Colly and Morgan who are arguably two of your best LO batsmen are terribly out of form.

Tbh, dont reckon the problem is confined to ODIs

Would've been interesting to see how they coped if they had batted first in Melbourne or Sydney given their performances in Perth and Day 1 in Brisbane

Everywhere else they batted on absolute roads against **** bowling
