Aah, forgot about that. Back when Hewitt was actually good!

Let me put this out there - I wouldn't be surprised if Federer will never win a Grand Slam in the future and Nadal and Djokovic will end up being the two best players in the world by the end of this year.
For a while now, I've thought 18 Grand Slams is the limit for Federer. He may get there or he may have blown his opportunities, but he's definitely going to need a favourable draw. As good as Federer has been this hard court season in the three set tournaments, it was difficult to see him getting past two top seeds to win this Aussie Open. Djokovic obviously believes he can beat Federer in the big matches, and it's only a matter of time before Murray feels the same way in Grand Slams.

ftr, I never said he wouldn't, I said it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't. It's impossible to count out a champion.

A very interesting time for men's & women's tennis as I don't think there's a clear #1.

I didn't get to watch, I was too busy serving aces and hitting smashes in beach volleyball tonight.

I'm happy for Djokovic although I'll be going for whoever wins in the semi tomorrow.

What round did Ferrer reach last aus open? Is he likely to move up in the rankings with a semi final appearance?

Ferrer actually only made the 2nd round last time, so I'd imagine so.

EDIT: Will apparently go up to 6th, and might go even higher if he can beat Murray.

Not quite sure how Nadal isn't a clear #1....Federer's still gun, but it's kinda obvious that Nadal has the wood over him (and Novak for that matter). Being knocked out in the quarters by a top 8 seed doesn't suddenly make him that much less of a player.

Journalists at the press conference in shock. If this was Roger they'd have had three injuries and the fact that he was conserving energy for the final to write about and blame on the loss
I hate to have to write this post, but would this make you reconsider your opinion?

Personally, I couldn't care less about how people micro-analyze these press conferences.

Nadal has worked so incredibly hard over the years that he has gained my full respect.
He's gone from being a one-dimensional player to a legend in such a short period of time.
People used to say a couple of years ago that he could only excel on clay courts but look where he is now. He's already completed the Golden career slam (all 4 slams + olympic gold medal). You just have to admire this enormous improvement in his game!

If you think saying "I lost because I conserved energy for Rafael Nadal" is saying it like it is than you're just being silly.

If Fed genuinely lost to Novak, the number ****ing 3 player in the world, because he was saving energy to play Nadal the next day, he is pretty ****ing dumb for an all-time great tennis player.

He clearly lost because he had concentration lapses and became Fed-error like he's been on and off for the last 3 years. It is disrespectful to Novak to suggest he only won because Fed played in first gear.
at the open he played a very average match by his standards and still held 2 match points which means he was still playing well enough to beat novak...and being a gifted tennis player doesn't mean you are a genius...it was obviously not a diplomatic, canned "humble and respectful" response like you usually hear from rafa but it was very likely the reason why he lost that match however dumb it sounded like to you...and after the straight set drubbing he got yesterday he acknowledged that novak was clearly the better player on the day and deservedly won...

Yeah Ferrer's one of those gutsy players you gotta love.

Murray really needs this set. Especially after having served for it.

Didn't realise Roger had an injury to speak of

Bit hard to say anything when you have no injury, no mono and you lost in straight sets. I'd have been impressed if Roger was able to actually say anything else. Would have topped his Wimbledon performance.

Well done Murray. Good tiebreak, though Ferrer lost the plot a bit with some of those errors.

One set a piece. Murray needs to hold the game after he breaks FFS.
