But having Aus and Pak in the same group as SL and offering seaming conditions doesn't sound like a great idea.
They should qualify for the QF regardless of the state of the pitches unless they lose to Zim, Can, or Kenya (which can happen to Pak mind you) the chances of which are low.
Pak batting can get owned regardless of the pitch conditions but Pak bowling (despite being weak by its own standards) is still stronger than most teams. In any case Pak usually depends on its bowlers to win the matches. The batsmen are expected to screw up.

With Pathans, Rainas etc playing, I would think it's the other way around.

Quicks will probably end up having taken the most wickets, bowling early doors at new batsmen with the new bal, and towards the death when teams are taking powerplays and trying to go large. b
The role of the spinners/middle overs bowlers are going to be vital; they need to be able to buy some wickets between the 18-38 period, and not allow teams to load up on the last 12 overs with wickets and a powerplay in hand. It's why the teams with the best spin options will probably be favoured for the WC.

hmmm......you make pakistan sound like a strong proposition...they have a decent spin dept with Afridi, Ajmal, and Hussain

The ball won't get above waist height anyway. And Pathan has learnt to block short balls and go after balls pitched in his favoured area.With Pathans, Rainas etc playing, I would think it's the other way around.
