Spin might be a bit overrated. No doubt it's very useful on the slow and turning tracks of the Subcontinent, but a lot of the Asian batsmen are extremely adept at playing spin, more so than pace, and dew is bound to be a factor at most of the grounds, rendering spin pretty harmless in the second innings.

If anything, I think pure pace (Malinga, Lee, Steyn) and reverse swing (Zaheer, Gul) will prove to be the best wicket-taking options. Even swing bowlers with the new ball could be a handful on certain pitches (Kulasekra, Praveen, Anderson)

Canny medium pace cutters and changes of pace will be fairly useful too, especially in second innings when dew makes it trickier for spinners. Guys like Collingwood, Trott, Hastings, Razzaq, Pollard and Styris could be more effective than expected over the course of the tournament.

Seriously liking our reliance on pace having seen a few of these decks now. I mean, most of our spin options are rubbish anyway, and if you're 90-95 mph and getting it right, you're always a real chance, no matter the pitch.

Doersn't mean the blokes we have will get it right, but with what we have, it's easily the right way to go IMHO.

I posted something similar in the thread about England's bowling but yeah, Australia do seem to have worked out how to bowl in India in ODIs. Going by recent history, they've done the best out of all the teams out there. Bowling in India is a thankless job.

To be honest England have played on some of the flatter wickets so far while the Australia have played on less flatter ones.

While there will be high scoring pitches in this WC,there will also be a lot of lower scoring ones in which the bowlers specially the slower ones will have the advantage.

It does seem like only Australia and England have gone the pace option so it looks like it has been decided that spin is better by the sides themselves.

Afridi is absolutely storming it.

Tahir has spun his way round the world, now he's spinning around corners.

Balaji is the only thing Canada have got to shout about.

The Windies have sent for Bishoo.

England to break Tredwell's legs and fly Rashid in.

Seems to be fairly evenly matched between pace and spin so far:

Afridi 3 games, 14 wickets SR 12.0
Roach 3 games, 10 wickets SR 13.5
Johnson 2 games, 8 wickets SR 13.8
Benn 3 games, 8 wickets, SR 17.8
Tahir 2 games, 7 wickets, SR 14.4
Southee 3 games, 7 wickets, SR 21.7
Baidwan 3 games, 7 wickets, SR 22.1
Bresnan 3 games, 7 wickets SR 25.7

Malinga 1 game, 6 wickets SR 7.6
