Also possibly some very good timing by Nicol - making a nice wee 84 just before the NZ World Cup squad is announced.

I'm fairly certain the squad would be named about 2 hrs out from the announcement...if anything you'd say it's badly timed.

I don't think he'll make it, unfortunately. Woodcock as the third spinner instead.

Thats excellent to hear - given how little four-day cricket Guptill's seemed to play for Auckland since making his way into the Black Caps, thats very encouraging that he'll be appearing in the county championship.

Matthew Bell is announcing his retirement from FC cricket today. ****, like Wellington didn't have enough troubles already. Good stalwart of domestic cricket, even if he was shockingly awful at the international level.

Cue Anthony Stuart signing up some poor quality Australian player to come and open.

Actually, they'll probably move Rhodes there anyway. QED.

Bevan Small playing for the CD U23's.

Only bowled 7 overs, so evidently he's still easing his way back into top level cricket. Either that or he's injured again.

2nd division right? He'll tear up without too much trouble imo. Needs some first division, which is actually a higher standard than NZ FC, rather than lower (Franklin takes wickets for fun in 2nd div ffs).
He could struggle, as the level of cricket isn't great but neither is our FC scene and Guptill only averaged around 27 when called up to the test side. Andrew Strauss also struggled big time when playing for Middlesex last year.

Franklin has only taken wickets for fun in one season of county cricket recently. The rest he struggled a lot.

I can't imagine Martin Guptill has played much cricket if any in England, I'd have my doubts he'd just stroll on over and dominate.
