"For respect to David Ferrer I won't talk about injury"

WAFG. True gentleman.
''It's obvious I didn't feel at my best, I had a problem in the match in the beginning and after that the match was almost over and that's all I can say.

''It seems I always have problems when I lose"

So not such a gentleman after all

Nope sorry. He didn't bring it up once. Journalists kept asking him and he spoke about his overall fitness issues in lasting 12 months. Never once mentioned what his injury is/was.

Nice try but the fact everyone has come out and praised his press conference is enough for me :)

Lol. That is talking about the injury.
exactly...i don't know how people fall for this "humility" and "respect" facade when it is so clearly not genuine...i am not saying he should trash-talk about his opponent serena-style even if he was outplayed...but stating a fact is not something i consider arrogant...if nadal was not sick, he would have won this match, it's that simple...it wouldn't have mattered how ferrer played...that's what i like about federer, he says it like it is most of the time, when he loses, it is usually because he plays well below his best and his opponent plays out of his skin...and he doesn't comment like that after a loss against rafa...he accepts him as an equal...

Li Na looking like a big chance of winning here. It's not over yet, but it's looking like a huge day for Chinese tennis.

Big effort from Li Na, fending off a match point and her disappointing form in the 1st set and a half.

If you think saying "I lost because I conserved energy for Rafael Nadal" is saying it like it is than you're just being silly.

If Fed genuinely lost to Novak, the number ****ing 3 player in the world, because he was saving energy to play Nadal the next day, he is pretty ****ing dumb for an all-time great tennis player.

He clearly lost because he had concentration lapses and became Fed-error like he's been on and off for the last 3 years. It is disrespectful to Novak to suggest he only won because Fed played in first gear.

And if Ponting said something similar against India I'm sure you'd hardly say "well, he's just telling it like it is"

What does Nadal losing have to do with Federer?

Here's Federer's press conference after the US Open semi -- USO: Roger Federer Semifinal Press Conference : Tennis Connected

And here's the rest of the quote you cropped off:

“The U.S. Open was a close match,” recalled Federer. “I think I had two match points … I guess I should have won really. I mean, I was playing good enough to win.

“But I was a bit confused mentally maybe … maybe I just felt like I have to get out of this match as quick as I could to save energy to play Rafa the next day.

“In the end, it was a shot here and there. He whacked those forehands in the corners the way he had to turn the match.

“He’s a quality player who plays really offensive, he takes it to the opponent. I enjoy playing against him because of the shot-making we are able to create really.”
Reads like nothing to me.

Actually you missed the Super Saturday line, and the fact they were playing in the second session affected his game.

You did the cropping?

Cracking start this. Opening games featuring some errors and great shots too.

Don't like Fed trying to beat box head from the baseline here. Needs to shorten it up I think.
