The funny thing is, though, he keeps taking wickets in county cricket and in the Plunket Shield. He took seven for nothing in a CC game last season. I highly doubt he's doing that bowling 120km/hr long hops and half-volleys that don't move off the straight. He must be swinging it at that level.
Well, he never has got the ball to swing much in one day cricket, for whatever reason. And in county cricket/plunket shield, he's usually taking the new ball (or at the last coming on first change after 10 or 12 overs). In the test match this summer, he didn't really get access to the ball before the 25 over mark when most of the swing had worn off anyway. There's also the likelihood that domestic tracks would offer him a lot more sideways movement to complement what swing he gets.

Fixed. He's done nothing of note in the Plunket Shield during the last two seasons, 24 wickets @ 50 would indicate that he is indeed bowling left arm tripe at 120K.

Gotta give credit to NZ cricket for scheduling 6 ODIs instead of the usual 5.

There was always a very high possibility that one ODI would be rained out.

When was the last time an ODI got rained out in Australia?

couple of years ago, right?

They would on average have about a game every three years rained out.

We seem to have every third game rained out.

lol, without wishing to reply in bad-taste, Aust have had more than their fair share of excessive rain this season, whether it's affected cricket games or not.

I hear the forecast for the 3rd ODI does'nt look that encouraging either. No?

Pity really.I've always enjoyed watching matches in New Zealand.Very calm looking place.I can't wait for the 2015 world cup.

Why no reserve day? Forecast is beautiful for tomorrow down there in Queenstown.

I've often maintained that in County Cricket as least, there's a different type of bowling that takes wickets to the Test arena. See the likes of Lewis (J), Pattinson (P), Smith (M) and many others.

In: Mills, Williamson, Woodcock
Out: Franklin, Ryder, Vettori

Not a fan of this rotation.

Why would they leave out Ryder when he's in a pretty good form? I mean he scored 55 from 34 and was unlucky to have been caught by Shafiq.

Same here. That world cup is going to be a good for the bowlers.

It was supposed to be a seven match series initially, wasn't it ?

BTW @ Hurricane, you mentioned in a previous post that players should see off the new ball by blocking or leaving it. I can understand that reasoning for tests but what about ODI's or T20's
Fot T20s I don't think it is a good idea to be too defensive - so you would want to play shots wherever you can even if it means playing with calculated risk.

For ODIs - if it a good ball then I would treat it with respect in the first few overs of the game. It seems to lose its shine relatively quickly.

What is your opinion?
