Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
With all due respect, you appear to have some sort of vendetta against James and his moderation. Firstly, as James has said, this whole thing was started as a response to an email from a past moderator. Hell, three other mods agreed with the suggestions before James even posted in the thread.Poor move.
James, with all due respect (which tbf is probably little), you don't actually read the forum regularly and you don't understand the tone of discussions and relationships with certain posters.
You can say that there has been input from other moderators, but I know for a fact you were pushing this crackdown more than any of them.
Because of your dearth of involvement in the forum, realistically for the good of the forum you shouldn't actually be a moderator. But I understand as owner you want to be.
Infract me, doesn't bother me. But it's true.
Think Fusion has summed it up well here. This isn't at all meant to be a crackdown or anything; it's an effort by the mod team to make moderation a lot more consistent. We've received a lot of feedback in the past about people commenting that punishment for Poster X doesn't match the punishment for Poster Y. This is being brought in to make that all a lot clearer.
The system as it stands, generally goes as such: people report a post, the mods look at it, discuss whether a punishment is needed, and then discuss what it is. People are in different time zones, and often reluctant to act without some sort of consensus, so by the time a punishment's actually been handed out, the offense could have been a week ago. This makes it a lot easier to act on an offense in a much more timely manner.
We're not trying to cut down on the banter either, just make it a bit more family friendly. After all the forum has long been a 'family forum,' but recently the atmosphere has seemed to move a bit away from it. Sometimes you'd be reading a thread in the Ashes sub-forum and there'd be a **** every second post.
Bear in mind, this thread has been created to generate discussion and input on the issue. If you guys do have constructive input, or past experience with the system, please let us know.
