*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

I still think Ryder opening is a pretty big mistake. Neither his ODI record or his List A record do justice to his ability and he's opened for the majority of his one day career at both levels. I think he'd be far more effective at four or five; I'd definitely settle for three though. Guptill and McCullum should open, IMO.

McCullum can GAGF
Nothing wrong with what he said in the article tbh.

happy at the series but the tactics in the last were mind boggling can't see this team going forward with this mentallity.
I dont agree with the tacts but I understand where it came from. I totally understand where it came from.

Forget about the team, have you talked to fellow Pakistan fans?? Most of us were worried that they would collapse on the final day and gift New Zealand a victory.. Most of were were worried they would collapse before lunch, after lunch, after tea. Just imagine what the players feel.. They are not used to winning. They are used to losing, and not just losing plainly, but losing from winning positions.
This is not Imran Khan's Pakistan which considered drawing worse than losing.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Having Ryder at 5 makes sense to me. Only problem is where do you put Styris? Better use to us at 4/5 than at 3 or 6, when it's too early/late for him to play his trademark style saves or foundation.

The playing XI has been named for tomorrows game:

1.Guptill
2.Ryder
3.Taylor
4.Styris
5.Franklin
6.B McCullum
7.Oram
8.Vettori
9.N McCullum
10.Southee
11.Bennett

Honestly, replace Franklin with Williamson and I don't mind it. Both Oram and Franklin should be battling for the one spot imo.
You'd drop the only batsman who did anything in India?

I'd have both Oram and Franklin in the side. Oram is there for his bowling (and is our most economical seamer) and Franklin for his hitting.

Franklin at five is one spot too high though imo. Would keep McCullum opening, Ryder in the middle order, and Franklin at six.

Was not expecting such a side at all tbh, though a blessing in disguise is that number 4 is statistically Styris' best position.

Nope, I'd give him the series, likewise with Oram.
Oh, so you mean only one plays at the WC and the other is replaced with a batsman? Gotcha.

Unless Oram makes a real ****up of this series I'd have both in the first XI come the world cup imo. Something like this:

McCullum
Guptill
Ryder
Taylor
Styris
Franklin
Oram
McCullum, N
Mills
Vettori
Southee

3,4,5 could be changed around any way the selectors like, especially since Styris will be fine at three in the WC because of the slow subcontinent pitches.

thats all wrong too much credit is given to franklin batting..

Gutpill
McCullum B
Taylor
Ryder
Styris
Williamson
Oram
Vettori
McCullum N
Southee
Bennett

If B McCullum gets out early Id send Southee in with free license. If Gutpill goes early Id leave as is.

Basically. If McCullum does indeed bat at six during the world cup I just don't like the idea of Franklin playing at five and Oram at seven.

In ODIs in the subcontinent, Williamson is not a better bat than Franklin.

Williamson shouldn't be anywhere near the side for this World cup.

Franklin already booked his spot on the plane back to India last time he was there.

1.Guptill

7.Oram
8.Vettori

Oram is only batting 7 in this series so the selectors can see if he still has it. If he doesn't he goes to 9 and N McCullum goes to 7.

It's more Mills vs Oram at 9 for this series TBH as I have no faith Oram will touch 2007 heights with his batting.
