cant believe i am defending kallis. last month i was ridiculing him. one double hundred and a series saving third innings century with a ****ed up rib cage later, i am ready to get my sister married to him. (dont actually have a sister, though. hope kallis likes my brother)

In Garner's era he was the best ODI bowler. It would be tough to make a case for an equal.
In Ambrose era, he has several equals and he was never "the" best bowler in his era.
Now lookin at stats,
Garner significantly beats Ambrose in SR, Avg and ER. Though the difference in ER is understandable b/c how the era has changed from decade to decade and how batsmen has become more aggressive.
But, Garner has gotten wickets with impressive SR in an era when batsmen were less aggressive. Garner also has done better against better offences then Ambrose has.

Although I do agree with your sentiments on Symonds
