Test match Records that will never be broken !!

Most test wickets won't be broken perhaps ever.. 800 wickets is way beyond the reach of many bowlers.
Both Murali and Warne really got up there in the same decade, I think it is a very high possibility that it will be broken.

Most runs in an innings : 400 by Brian Lara.
401* or something might happen. i doubt 450 will

I don't see R.E Foster's highest score on debut (287) being broken anytime soon.

Ponsford is the only one to get two tons in his first matches and two tons in his last two matches isn't he? I'm not sure if that counts as a record but I don't see that happening again either.

Am pretty confident Cook won't be the one to threaten Tendulkar's record for Test runs.

Hanif Mohammad's 970 minute innings is safe as too. England getting 654 in the 4th innings won't be beaten either

It wouldn't suprise me to see Cook retire as the record holder for Test runs. Already has 5,000, and is only 26. Given the volume of Test cricket England play, he only needs another 10 years where his output matches his first 5 and he should be on about 15k. If he kicks on from the Ashes and improves so than he's a 50 averaging batsman, he'll get there even quicker.

2.Murali's 10fers-22.
3.George lohman's average of 10.75(min 100 wick).
4.Hanif mohammad's 970 minute innings.

 Bet you wouldn't be saying this before the Ashes.

I'd be surprised if he did go on to get 15K, mostly because I doubt this amount of test matches will be played in let's say 5 years time.

1. Oldest players to score a maiden century - AW Nourse - 42y 291d
2. Highest % of wickets taken by 'hit wicket' - H Verity - 2.08%

Two stupidly obscure records, which don't have a hope in todays day and age.

It's not for Test matches alone, but I just don't see anyone coming close to Tendulkar's tally of international hundreds. And he could easily have had 6-7 more in 2007 alone. Mindboggling. :-O

In fact, it'd be a pretty monumental effort if anyone got close to Ponting's tally alone. To get to Tendulkar, they'd have to play 20 years.

I seriously doubt Cook will get to the number of runs that Tendulkar is gonna end up with. I don't think he has the technique to really be that consistent at the test level for another decade.

I think Cook is enjoying the sort of form that M Yusuf and Pietersen were enjoying some time ago, and he's gonna be back in reality pretty soon. He'll definitely end up with 12,000+ runs though, and prob beat Ponting and Dravid.

Can't see a margin of victory of 675 runs, or an innings and 579 come to that, ever happening again, unless Bermuda gets Test status I suppose

People are going way overboard about Cook. He won't get anywhere near Tendulkar and I'd be very surprised if he got near Ponting or Dravid either. One incredible series has made people become over-optimistic about him IMO.

I agree. England playing more tests/year than any other nation certainly helps his chances of doing that. But it is also a double edged sword as one lean patch can also cost his place in the team. I hope he doesn't go down the Michael Vaughan path who was praised skyhigh after 2002/03 Ashes but largely failed to do live upto the promise (injuries didn't help either)

Actually I agree. The volume of cricket is the key - he plays a lot more than Tendulkar did per year.

Even so, I think he won't beat the centuries record - even if he does beat the runs record.

Assuming Tendulkar gets there...does anyone think the 100 international centuries will be broken?

Most international centuries won't be probably be broken .

Most international runs record of Tendulkar is pretty strong contender for remaining unbroken too.
