Both Murali and Warne really got up there in the same decade, I think it is a very high possibility that it will be broken. Most test wickets won't be broken perhaps ever.. 800 wickets is way beyond the reach of many bowlers.

401* or something might happen. i doubt 450 willMost runs in an innings : 400 by Brian Lara.
It wouldn't suprise me to see Cook retire as the record holder for Test runs. Already has 5,000, and is only 26. Given the volume of Test cricket England play, he only needs another 10 years where his output matches his first 5 and he should be on about 15k. If he kicks on from the Ashes and improves so than he's a 50 averaging batsman, he'll get there even quicker.Am pretty confident Cook won't be the one to threaten Tendulkar's record for Test runs.

I'd be surprised if he did go on to get 15K, mostly because I doubt this amount of test matches will be played in let's say 5 years time.It wouldn't suprise me to see Cook retire as the record holder for Test runs. England will. Tests are still the major money spinner for the ECB.I'd be surprised if he did go on to get 15K, mostly because I doubt this amount of test matches will be played in let's say 5 years time.
I agree. England playing more tests/year than any other nation certainly helps his chances of doing that. But it is also a double edged sword as one lean patch can also cost his place in the team. I hope he doesn't go down the Michael Vaughan path who was praised skyhigh after 2002/03 Ashes but largely failed to do live upto the promise (injuries didn't help either)People are going way overboard about Cook. He won't get anywhere near Tendulkar and I'd be very surprised if he got near Ponting or Dravid either. One incredible series has made people become over-optimistic about him IMO.
Came in thread to post this. What a gun. I'm related to him as well.Charles Bannerman's record for highest percentage of runs scored by one player in a completed innings (67.34%; 165 runs out of 245ao) has stood since the very first test, so I think that one's a keeper.
Actually I agree. The volume of cricket is the key - he plays a lot more than Tendulkar did per year.It wouldn't suprise me to see Cook retire as the record holder for Test runs.
