He use to cover football and I think he still does for ESPN's sister site, Soccernet. Kills two birds with one stone...

Manthorp or Vice are the definitive South African cricketing writers.

Brilliant stuff from Lopsy. No Indian batsmen ever looked like getting him away. Tactics went wrong for India. Its pretty hard to start slow and build up momentum against a team like SA which has quality pace bowlers who comes at you all the time in their conditions. And their fielding was of top notch.

Well that really sucked. I thought we were set for about 240 odd after Yuvi got his 50. Vijay and Rohit need to go, I don't like Yusuf much but if he's gonna play as your #7 in the WC then why would you not play him here -_-

That was a pretty special all-round performance in the field from the Saffers.
Yep. Felt pretty helpless watching TBH, they totally suffocated the scoring with their fielding. Must have saved atleast 30 runs.

Nah. Rohit to open and Yusuf for Vijay. No need to move Kholi from #3 when he's done so well already.
Wouldn't mind that either but Kohli looks more assured facing the new ball imo. Rohit tends to struggle a bit more compared to him.

Were you unhappy with the batsmen? Felt helpless because of the bowling/fielding?

There weren't many Indian guys posting for a bit so was just wondering what your viewpoint was.
I don't think you'll find one Indian fan happy with that performance, which is why I was a little confused with the question.

Not taking the powerplay when Yuvraj was in was a mistake, but that doesn't justify the fall of those last 7 wickets for ****-all.

Odd batting display really.

Obviously SA were absolutely superb though. Couldn't get anything past the infield.

It doesn't matter because Rohit isn't gonna contribute any more in the middle order than he is if he were to open. I see him as a fodder anyways. If he can get us something like 25(35) and get a decent partnership with Sach I'll be more than happy. I don't expect anything big from him. Also Kholi is at #3 so half the time he will be op against the new ball in any case.

Was a cheeky attempt to get the thread going tbh. :p

Is this the pitch where SA chased down 400-odd? Did it have this much assistance then?

Haha that 434 pitch was one of the flattest ODI decks ever. Way different to this one.

Still not a 190 pitch today, but it was definitely not as flat as 2006.

Sourav Ganguly is not happy.

"You can always get bowled out cheaply. this is a game and that's the way it goes sometimes. What was missing, though, was self belief and positive intent. They seemed to lack confidence. I have doubts about the ability of some of the batsmen to play on these tracks. Suresh Raina seems to be forever expecting the short ball; he was so back inside the crease and got out to a full delivery. Rohit Sharma ... well the selectors must look at few other players who have scored well in domestic cricket. M Vijay seems to be out of form. Tendulkar has had a long break from ODIs yes and he has to put that out of his mind. He has to return to his natural attacking ways. He has to put out of his mind the fact that this is a young team and depends too much on him. The pressure on these youngsters will lift if he bats positively and puts the pressure back on the bowlers. Hopefully, in the next few games we will see that."
