Certainly wasn't a disastrous day for NZ, battled hard all day, but imo really struggled to get the right balance between batting with discipline and batting yourself into a hole. Of course confidence inevitably plays a part, and not having complete conviction in your shot selection and positive strokeplay will effect how the team bats immensely.
Vettori's was a useful cameo towards the end, showing some intent. Just think with John Wright urging more discipline with the bat, they went a touch too far the other way, and missed numerous opportunities to score runs, and failed to be proactive, especially against Rehman and Tanvir.
It's not easy for them after so much criticism of their batting, and loose shots, etc, at least they're working hard and trying to get a total on the board. Taylor showed good concentration and restrain from his usual game, in batting to the situation, yet threw his wicket away inexplicably really. A patient hundred there for the taking but he takes a swipe at their quickest bowler bowling the first ball of a new spell, to a ball that didn't really warrant the shot. Yes it was wide, a clear plan to Taylor, but not the right length for the drive. Good to see Taylor get some runs under his belt though.
350 is not completely out of reach, though will need a big 50 from Vettori I expect.
