That was one video. Ive seen more than once in the flesh.

Agarkar made a test ton at Lords. One video.
Then I find myself disagreeing with you for the first time. A dark day.

EDIT: My tone was aimed at our difference of opinion, not that you are wrong by any means. :)

Tbh though, in that video, it was a game against the Redbacks where he didn't even get particularly good returns. From all of the other footage I've seen of him bowl, he looks the same or even better than in that video.

Would love to see his 10-wicket debut, but I can't find the footage anywhere.

Should've been at the ground.

Yep most matches he was literally unplayable, kept on constantly beating the bat.

Nah hang on, as much as I love Copes, Robelinda has a point, even if you don't want to agree with him.

I've seen him a fair bit, both live and on streamz. I wouldn't call him a country trundler, but he's not what some people are making out. His stats certainly do flatter him a bit.

Bowling at around 120-130 will cut it on juicy first class decks, but he's going to struggle on lifeless, flat wickets. You can use the examples of McGrath and even Asif, but it's a stretch to compare Copeland to them.

It's the same as George from SA. Even though I rate Copeland as a bit better than George, it won't cut it in the international game unless:

A) Pitches dramatically change, or
B) He gets it through a bit quicker.
Without a doubt, Copeland is twice the bowler on decks with assistance. But I've found that even when there's not much on offer for the pacemen, he at least offers a semblence of control. To be fair though, these were against South Australia and one against Western Australia iirc, so maybe we need to wait and see after he's faced stronger attacks.

Huh? When did I say he's one of the best bowlers in the world? I don't understand what you are trying to say here...
You didn’t but you said he was “certainly a better version than Clark”, which got me wondering if that comment meant he is a better bowler than Clark now or when Clark was in pomp…

I'm talking more in a general way, he gets more swing than Clark hence being better (both get seam movement). I am comparing Copeland to Clark because they are both medium pace kind of bowlers, and as Clark was successful at Test level why can't Copeland be?

TumTum wasn't following cricket when Clark was playing for Australia remember, so it's an unfair question.

Clark was quick enough. 135kph or thereabouts, its when Clark lost his "nip" that the effectiveness waned.

An attack of Copeland, George and Dorey would be some sight.

Just as an English addendum to this "bowlers not looking as good as their figures would have us believe" debate, what did people think of Woakes?

A lot of English posters have been talking the boy up but, having seen him quite a few times, I've always reserved judgement because he's he's medium-fast pace, doesn't get much bounce (short-arse, tbh) and looks like fodder when the ball refuses to nibble about. PM's game seemed to add some support to my reservations.

Happy to be proved wrong but think he's another Jon Lewis, albeit without the comedy haircut and with added lower order batting.

He has the most simple bowling action I've ever seen. I've only ever seen him in the PMXI match, and he didn't look much chop there, but neither did any of the bowlers.

Yeah, I don't think a hell of a lot of people emerged with money in the bank from that match.

Didn’t see the PM game but saw Woakes last year and he was a disappointment. Same goes for James Harris who has looked decidedly average anytime I have ever seen him bowl.

Bell, Woakes in. Lumb, Trott, Finn and Tremlett left out. ****ing Wright still there - playing as a batsman now.

Side is pretty lame. Would have given Lumb a go. Looks like the onus will be on Swann and Yardy to deliver.

Game starts in 10. Vaughan thinks Australia are favourites now that they have chosen to bat first.

Norwood's on Fire
Think our batting looks a lot stronger than the bowling, where we will miss Broad. And I guess Anderson would get in the T20 side now.
