Some more information about the England players and why they didn't get much. Not only will test players not be available for the end of the tournament, you also have this:
And it still remains possible that those with IPL deals may not be released to appear after Andy Flower, the England team director, made it abundantly clear that he had the final call and would demand players rest if they needed it.
With constraints like these it's no surprise that the franchises weren't rushing over each to bid for English players.

I have tried and failed to care about the IPL and I think it's because I don't actually have a team to support. So this time I'm going to pick a franchise from the start and see what they can do. All of them are evil corporations, so I can't like the owners. And I can't like or dislike the players because I can't be bothered to look them all up.

So it's going to have to be who has the best name. The obvious ones to go are Chennai Super Kings - I don't smoke. Then there's Mumbai Indians, which manages to be simultaneously unoriginal and untrue.

Warriors and Daredevils I guess could be nice people at heart but altogether sound a bit dangerous for my taste. Knight Riders? No. The 1980s were a wholly unhelpful decade and I need no reminding of them.

Kochi and Deccan I find hard to get excited about. The Kochi "Team" isn't particularly enthralling and while I do use Chargers on a day-to-day basis (for my ipod and such), they're not items with a great deal of character.

The Royals and the Kings XI have got to go, I've never supported the monarchy and I don't want to confuse myself. Royal Challengers sound much more rebellious, they're a possibility.

And... yep, that's all of them. RCB will be my team of choice. I stand by my decision and I'm sticking with them.

Now, to look up their squad for the tournament...

Oh FFS.

Surely the Sri Lankan players are also unavailable for the end of the tournament too?

Though I accept that players like Sanga, Dilshan et al will have more star power in India, there's clearly more to it than that.

I'd much rather they were playing some county cricket anyway tbh. Though of course Notts can do without StuBo, cheating buggers.

I take my pledges very seriously, and will surely become the most die - hard Bangalore fan on CW - if not THE WORLD. You've been told.

Doesn't explain Broad (who's injured) being picked up whilst Anderson and Swann went unsold.

It also might have something to do with Swann being a spinner and Anderson being a rubbish limited overs bowler.

Limited overs or 20/20? He's in the top 10 in ODIs. :)
I think they are looking for bowlers who can bat.

Was Amla up for auction, and did anyone go for him? Surely he's one of the best limited overs batsmen in the world right now.

Quick question regarding the sums of money that are getting thrown around (I'm sure this has been answered already). Are they yearly figures or will they apply over a 3-year period.

Ie. Will Gambhir get paid $2.4 million a year, or $800,000 a year for three years?

more comlications . check out the

IPL 2011 draw
Well if every team played each other Home and Away that meant 94 Matches in total. If they divided the teams into 2 pools then it would have meant only 4 Home matches instead of 7 they had earlier, and that meant huge revenue losses. Since they purchased the team based 7 home matches, and the income from it, BCCi worked this out

Like earlier each team plays 7 home matches and 7 away, but to balance overall equation, 5 Home and away against 5 teams plus 2 Home only and 2 away only. The Points table will have combined 10 teams. So in the end it is simple, win matches have more points and qualify for Semi's
