IPL4 Auction

MW1304

Cricketer Of The Year
Who the **** is Simon Cook and why the **** does he have a base price of 300k?

And why are there 353 lots (or whatever they call selling people)? This is ridiculous.

Most teams have their Foreign player quota full. It is Indian players that are required by all and are in such bad supply. Some teams already filled their quota of 10 Foreign players allowed. Untill unless the player is exceptionally good or very well known he wont be picked up

Would be interesting see what happens when players like Ganguly, Lara, Gayle, Gibbs, and so on would be again pu for bidding. Ganguly surely would be picked now

This is getting boring. The Auctioneer should hurry and finsih off this list. No one really is gonna buy these players. Lets have the unsold from yesterday. That would be exciting

I haven't followed the entire auction in great detail, but I'm going to post a list of my suspicions about what the conventional wisdom is for the IPL and draw conclusions from it, and see how much of my suspicions are true based on what happens in the auction.

1. Batsmen are over-valued in T20
2. Bowlers are under-valued
3. All rounders are massively over-valued
4. Big hitters are massively over-valued
5. Indians, particularly batsmen, are over-valued (and before anyone jumps in on this point, I understand perfectly well the reasons why Indian batsmen have managed to command such huge salaries in this auction)
6. Australians are over valued
7. English players are under valued
8. Foreign spinners are massively under valued.

Plays for Kent, he's dreaming if he thinks he's worth that, but he's a very good T20 bowler, watched him play Somerset and he bowled brilliantly 3-13.

Hope this doesn't screw Lynn over that's all. He's suppose to be one of our brighter stars heading into the long term.
