wtf do they mean?
Left arm over the wicket creates a lot of rough outside the right-hander's off stump for Swann to aim at - see the sandpit created by Zak for Harbhajan at Newlands.

We had about 40-45 mins' rain in Bondi Junction - no worries for tomorrow. Over by lunch, off to the airport. Job done.

So they don't pick a superior player because it'll make one of the other player's better?

What a ****ing joke. If they don't think they can handle Swann then it should be the batsman to blame, not the bowlers. Worst excuse if I've ever heard one.

I don't think it's been given as the official line, to be honest - Bollinger's lack of fitness and lack of wickets at Adelaide seem to be the major reasons. However, you did pick X-D'oh on the grounds that he was left-handed, and you've been picking Steve Smith all summer, so you never know.

I wasn't being entirely serious when I suggested that was the reason... there have been rumors of it though.

That was fair enough for the first few tests, but there's no way he shouldn't have played here imo. Sooo much better than Hilf, Siddle and even Johnson.

I'm sunburnt.

The signs were there for Ponting, Clarke, North and Hilfenhaus. It's all been said, but the selectors and management need massive changes. Anyone worth their salt could see this well before the series started. From an Australian point-of-view, I really, really hope this shakes us up. Selecting batsmen with a history of run-making, who are in form, and an emphasis in selecting bowlers on line and length, not pace.

Really though, credit needs to go to the English. The way they've conducted themselves, their cricket and their support has been second-to-none. Deserved series winners, well done. The SCG was electric today. :)

I understand the weaknesses of Australia were seen before the series, but three innings losses most definitely were not on the cards, even for those who were well aware of an Ashes loss on the cards.

Weird though, as at series start three of our top six were lefties (Kat, Huss, North).

Smith has made 127 runs and conceded 138 runs. If we take each wicket to be worth around 30 runs, it would be irrelevant to him because he has none :p

He has currently contributed -11 runs this series. WAG.

Count yourself lucky, we got stuck with Stuart Broad, who contributed -101.
