Haha trueCollingwood announcing his retirement a strong indicator he doesn't think they'll bat again this match!
Yeah, the fact that so many pies have been served up at the other end has obviously been to his detriment a great deal. However ,as you say, it's the fact that whilst keeping things tidy enough and fairly steady that he hasn't looked remotely threatening that is the crux of the matter.Yeah, I'm not claiming he's bowled well and should retain his place or anything, but I was just thinking that I don't really remember him being smashed about at any point in the series; something which his series stats seem to back up, as he's only conceded 2.68 rpo for the series. The problem he's had is that England's batsmen have generally played really high percentage cricket, and the highest percentage shot against the majority of Hilfenhaus' stuff has been the leave.
He's larglely bowled outswingers in a decent area just outside off that could have caused problems if England's batsmen had been more impatient against. Partly because there's largely been a diet of buffet bowling coming from the other end, England haven't really felt the need to go after him and risk playing the sorts of shots that will get you into trouble against a bowler moving the ball away from you. That's what I'm getting at when I say that Hilf's been competent - however the fact that he hasn't looked remotely threatening all series is a major black mark.
He's always been a trenchant buffoon, has Both.Slates on C9 having a go at the "other commentary box" (i.e. Botham) calling Hughes a cheat
By declaration.Beer Clarke get Beer on FFS, this will finish quickly.
Hope he doesn't bowl in the 2nd innings - would be great for his last ball in Tests to be the wicket of the best batsman in the opposition!Colly's retired from Test cricket WAFG. Absolute hero.
I'm sure you're right but even on a helpful deck with two strikers bowling their bollocks off in Perth, he managed to bowl the most overs of all bowlers and look pedestrian. Needs some poles for Tassie to get his confidence up, don't think he's taken many for them in the past 3 years even. And if he cant take wickets at a lower level....Yeah, I'm not claiming he's bowled well and should retain his place or anything, but I was just thinking that I don't really remember him being smashed about at any point in the series; something which his series stats seem to back up, as he's only conceded 2.68 rpo for the series. Add to that Watson was bowling 87-88mph.I know it's been said before, but the speed gun at the SCG must be broken. No way in the world is Hilfenhaus bowling at 89 mph in this over.
Woah, Swanneh has some serious babes as fans. Get in there son!
