It's only a statistical ranking, and a poor one, a team that just got beaten by an innings only a week ago is the "best team in the world". It's really the best we have however, without having a world test championship. The individual rankings are probably no different to be fair really. They're run on algorithms designed by mathematicians and accountants.

That's actually a sensible post, unlike some of your most recent ones.

But like aussie, you don't seem to understand that #1 does not mean "dominant team ala Australia 2000s or WI 80s".

It just means "wins more than other teams", which it does.

It's still more of a handshake agreement really, just to make the fans feel warm and fuzzy.

All my posts are based on solid information. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

India are the team that wins most right now in world cricket. End of.

People said they were only winning in the subcontinent, and they just beat the "real #1" on its home soil. End of.

That's solid information mate.

SA won in India too, which is good. What ****s up SA is they lose at home to England, Pakistan, WI, Australia... **** they lose to everyone.

It really is a blight on the ranking system that even in the strong likelihood that South Africa win the next test, they will still not be the best team in the world, when clearly they should be. There would be a huge asterix next to India's ranking if there isn't one already.
If a 2-1 home series win against the no. 1 team is all you needed to become the new no. 1, then India would have been the no. 1 team you very well know when... 8-)

You are aware of the theory that winning one test in a series does not always equate to winning the entire series ? By winning away from home, the bulk of us mean winning a series. Winning against Australia in Perth was great and felt warm and fuzzy, they lost 2-1. If they beat South Africa next week then that's an awesome away win, if not, no one will really rate the test win today as highly really

Be reasonable. There's a healthy balance between statistics, reality and fantasy.

Do we need to bring up this No. 1 discussion after every ****ing game? Clearly the teams in world cricket right now are fairly evenly matched ATM, with India having the most consistent record in the last couple of years or so (I don't care if the touring schedule has been a bit kind to us in that period, it should even out eventually).
