*Official* Third Test at the WACA

The ball has been swinging for everyone most of the time. The difference being Johnson being able to use it the best.
It must be something to do with the grass cover, so I hope when England chase there is still enough there. Because Johnson when he isn't swinging it, isn't really that dangerous.

TBH, I don't think it was a case of the English batsmen getting complacent at all, Johnson's spell today would have decimated most batting lineups I've seen. And I think it was mostly Finn who was responsible for Australia getting a few extra lower-order runs in the first innings, not complacency.
Agree, that bowling spell was pretty awsome, the balls to Colly and KP were unplayable, sometimes you really have to give credit to the bowler.

In the wash up from today I'm just really disappointed with Ponting. Absolute nothing leg side wicket gifted to Finn again.

Yet to watch the highlights but when I saw that in the espn comms I was :(

ed: ehhh, he went pretty far across his stumps.

The best ball was the one that went from leg to off like a banana to Strauss. Can't believe he kept it out.

Anyway, we could go on all day so let's just agree that I win the argument and move on.

Am honoured to be the single name on this list of people with double-standards during this test to be honest. Feel like Matty Johns after the Cronulla gang bang.

Agreed about the batting today, which is why I'm harking back to when we took our eye off the ball in the 2nd half of Day 1. Really good sides wouldn't have let Aus recover enough to add 200 for the last 5 wickets. It all looked ridiculously easy for the Aus lower order, which simply shouldn't haver happened.

lol, you are a really good side. You just can't expect everything to go your way every minute of a five match series unless you're an atg side.

It's exactly the kind of take-your-foot-off-it-when-they're-down that we've been prone to the last two years though.

It is not really something Australia needs to worry about. They can bat another day and a half if they want so might as well make it really impossible before declaring.
Just bat all of tomorrow I would think. Maybe bat a little bit into Day 4, but if we bat well all of tomorrow then we shouldn't need to do much batting on Sunday.
Not to put a downer on these visions of bravado, but there's nothing to suggest yet that either team is capable of batting more than 2 sessions on this pitch. just don't want to get ahead of the game, you know.

If our tail can get 100, 150 on this pitch I can't see why the tail + Hussey + Haddin + Watson can't.

Hussey, Haddin and Watson are capable. Another 150+ and Australia have this in the bag especially with Johnson back in the wickets.

tail .

But in all seriousness, a highly unorthodox, belligerent 50 from him could be extremely useful.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but if Australia win this it will make the series VERY interesting. Would be hilarious to see us regain the Ashes despite all the criticism, negativity, etc.
