*Official* Third Test at the WACA

Doesn't count if Hussey has already scored heaps of runs against him and the England team
No it only counts for what he did against Swann.

Brisbane he caned Swann. Adelaide 1st innings Swann got him without conceding many. 2nd innings about even. Then 1st innings here agains Swann got him without conceding many.

Clarke's shot selection has been utterly dire this series. It has been inexcusable this test. The ball certainly was way to close to cut.

Drop him and pick Khawaja until he sorts it out at state level.

It's like late 2005 all over again, isn't it?

Disagree, it's equally effective for the team's sake if you can defend against one bowler and milk the rest. It doesn't matter where the runs come from.

Oh my goodness I just noticed - the Ponting dismissal was right over middle stump! Horrible shot.

Oh no, didn't you hear the coaches talking about Johnson ? There's no point sending test quality players back to Shield cricket to get form against players who aren't of international standard.

I've got an idea...I reckon they should bowl short on leg to Watson...
Worked with Trott didn't it ?

The idea of moving Watson down to the middle order is a bit stupid to be honest. Think about it. Australia have a struggling number 3, 4 and a number 5 that has only just come into form in this series. Why would you then replace a proven opener with a new guy. That would just risk exposing those struggling players early on.

Fingers crossed he actually gets past the fifties this time though.

But in a direct battle between Swann and Hussey, its about how the two face up to each other. We don't need to consider how the rest of the bowlers are doing or how the batsman is doing against completely different bowlers. For example, someone like Watson may be very good against the pace bowlers, but in a battle against Swann he gets contained and, ultimately may fail.

You're being ironic, right?

Will quote it again when you're next taking credit away from a wicket England have taken i.e. when the first Aus wicket falls next dig.
Not at all...or are you saying seeing a guy struggles against the short ball and then pinning him with it a couple of times is the same as wafting at one a foot and a half outside off?

Full credit to England for every wicket they've taken this series though...and apologies for being annoyed that Clarke would waft at one two feet outside off. Better?
