That is even worse. Yeah so easy to claim ignorance after accusing him of Double Standards. I sill don't see the double standards he is being accused of.

As far as being a Tendy fanatic, actually you have got the wrong guy here. He is a great batsman but not my god. I have criticized him a lot in the past and I still do.

Drinking beer isn't same as taking millions of Dollars and endorsing it. At the time picture was taken Tendulkar , Still a kid, had an opportunity to play for Yorkshire.
I think you've kind of inadvertantly proven my point.

Next time someone makes some passing comment or posts a pic up of any other player in some humorous context, I'll be sure not to make any post before hitting the books, getting the context right, etc. lest they or their fans be slighted by it. Then again, maybe they won't give a rat's.

Unbelievable.

If you so much as make a half serious crack at the expense of Stuart MacGill I'm going to hunt you and your family down, ****.

Personally feel Lara and Ponting's moral compasses are slightly better than his, especially on seaming wickets. What do you guys think? Ikki to dig this up and respond once unbanned..
Ikki is banned???? for what???

Whatever it takes!!!
It's an interesting one though, because essentially he still takes money from them via Cricket South Africa I would imagine. Just as I imagine money from alcohol advertising has got into Tendulkar's bank account via the BCCI or Mumbai Indians or so on.
lol.. that is like saying each and everyone of us get money from them coz we get some kind of healthcare or other stuff from Government and the government takes money from alcohol companies and stuff through taxes and so on.. That is just a stupid way of looking at it. AFAIC, you get money from your employers and if your employers make money off those companies, then that is no fault of yours..

I remember Viv Richards turning down huge offers for playing in rebel tours in South Africa in the 80s. I remember Ian Botham doing the same too (which too me is even more impressive, considering Botham wasn't even a black). Because apartheid was still rampant in South Africa during that time. And at the time there was hardly any money in cricket compared to what is now.

Yes, what Sachin did was good but there have been quite a few instances of great players standing by their own morals/principles rather than succumbing to money. In fact, one could say that it is rarer to find great players who were out-and-out immoral, than the other way around.

And one has to understand definition of morals/principles vary from person to person depending on which culture they come from. For Viv, doing a beer-ad would be no big deal but supporting anything that directly or indirectly supports apartheid would be a strict no-no. That is the culture he comes from.

For a pro-organic-food nut like me, sweetened carbonated drinks (Pepsi/Coke etc.) are far worse than alchohol since they directly affect children, but just because cricketers endorse those drinks doesn't make them any less great in my eyes.
Nicely put and I don't think the thread starter or others here ever gave any impression that what he did was something no one else would do... At least, I didn't..

Yeah haha, it's become like taboo to even talk about Tendulkar unless it's from a strictly positive angle. If Tendulkar is a God, then I'm an atheist.
Think that applies more recently to Ponting, Australian Captaincy, Australia and basically batting as far as CW is concerned than about Sachin,

And there is some real funny irony in me being called a Sachin fanboy when just a couple of months ago, a couple of CWers from India were happy to call me a Lara fanboy and a Sachin basher, basically... :p

And Burge, I really don't think the issue witi the picture and the fun it started.. At least for me, it was what DeusEx said and hopefully he now understands the picture better having learned of the incident from the 90s.. I felt that a very wrong picture was painted reg. Sachin and Alcohol Endorsement here by him and hence I responded.

Coming to the picture, I really do think the bat looks better than his MRF or Adidas ones..

Na, my point to begin with was that the article contains nothing which deserves special mention. My opinion hasn't changed. And frankly, you have been writing some emotionally fuelled nonsense, the pinnacle of which has to be this: "Think that applies more recently to Ponting, Australian Captaincy, Australia and basically batting as far as CW is concerned than about Sachin". You can't be serious?

Nope, I am.. And I told why just now in another post...

And as for emotionally fuelled nonsense, they also go by the single word "fact" you know.. :p
