*Official* - Pakistan in New Zealand 2010/2011

Not Terrible
Throwing away his gloves despite it being to the detriment of the team is a bit disgraceful, especially in ODI matches. I agree he's starting to look more like a finished product in tests but at what expense? The guy has an ego the size of a battleship and Vettori panders to it. No player is bigger than the team
It's about injury concerns tbh.

Could those posters who keep deriding McCullum for giving up the gloves in tests and calling it disgraceful please get some perspective. It's fact that his back and knees have been problems of his for the last 10 years, and I'm surprised he's lasted this long in the longer form.

It's early days but I'd hardly say his Test performances since giving up the gloves have been to the detriment of the team, in fact when you combine the performances with the lengthening of his career I'd say it's a positive move for them.

Looking at the performance of Hopkins - say we've gained 10 runs per innings from BMac, we're losing 20 runs per innings from Hopkins - he's also a much lesser keeper.

Well, we could have no keeper (Baz injured) and Hopkins instead.

Also I think Hopkins is more incidental. He's Johnny on the Spot for having a decent domestic run the last few years iirc. Should Baz not be fit in ODIs I think the man should be McGlashan (not currently 100% either afaik) and look at debuting van Wyk or de Boorder in Tests.

Jeez, reading NZ related threads is starting to feel like listening to talk-back radio.

With the recent super form that NZ have been with no wins in the last 10 matches, I don't see them winning this one.
They are playing at home though, that should make a difference. I wouldn't write them off that easily - they beat Pakistan in an ODI series last year in (virtually) their own conditions. I think both teams will win three ODIs apiece.

I think Pakistan will win the Test series, they seem to produce pace bowlers from nowhere and those bowlers should do well on Kiwi wickets. NZ will probably win the ODIs.

interesting observation........the batting would be the key for Pakistan.......the bowling although weak should still manage to take care of itself. Azhar Ali would need to stand up to the occasion.

I wonder what the pitches will be like this time around. If they are as flat as the ones during India's tour last year, then there is unlikely to be a result in either match. Both teams lack the firepower to bowl the opposition twice in unfriendly conditions.

That's true. For some reason bowling attacks throughout the world seem really toothless these days. Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods???
