I feel like my entire cricketing world is falling apart. Australia are woeful, and Victoria are playing the worst cricket I have seen from them in 5-6 years.
i now understand why you guys usually just get imported players from other states.

Looks like a brilliant partnership between Hopes and Hartley today. Phillipson at 3 was never going to work against a good Shield attack.
I'm surprised that the Pattinson's are getting overlooked for Cleary.

Also, any idea why Bollinger is now 13th man for NSW?
James Pattinson has only just bowled his first spell back from his back issues. They might play him in the shortened version, but weren't going to risk him first up in a Shield Game.

James Faulkner is averaging under 7 this season. Anyone seen him play?
My Tassie spies were never super impressed, his father is high up in Cricket Tas so he's been given every opportunity. Think he might develop into a Butterworth type; decent bowler, probably can't really bat higher than 7.

Yeah, poor man's Butterworth. Might be a slightly better bat but just bowls accurate left arm meds. Doesn't get anywhere near the swing with the new pill that Butterworth does at this stage.

Great. NSW has enough trouble dealing with one Butterworth....

Copeland has two wickets after a slow start (13 overs without a wicket!). Sean Marsh still in with Ronchi. He's in good form so far this season. Dougeh hoping to come back on and clean up the tail.

Mitchell Marsh has to be on the verge of being dropped from the Shield side. I know he's super talented but 10 games for an average of 16 with the bat and 86 with the ball might suggest it's perhaps a little early for him.

Elsewhere I just compared him to Moises in terms of the enormous hype and subsequent lack of performance (although I'm perhaps treating Moises a bit harshly)

Has Marsh actually got potential as a bowler? Cause while I've known about his batting talents since about 07, all of a sudden after cleaning up the NSW tail in a T20 match last season he became an potential top class all-rounder...

Surprised that Haurtiz has put in a good performance tbh. Was expecting 10 overs at 6 an over

Australia could do much worse than maybe bring Marsh into the test side, he's been scoring well this year for WA.

Hughes fails. Step up Khawaja, I wouldn't be alone in wanting him to have a big innings here. I want him in the Test side, but he has done nothing to deserve it over the past month.

I have never seen Ryan Duffield bowl before, but he is having a good game here. The WA bowling lineup looks terrible, and I think it was an impressive performance to bowl NSW out in the first innings for less than 300.

Yeah and he's keeping out Luke Pomersbach. If Pomers can't get a game for the rest of the year, I think QLD would welcome him for sure.

I hear Bollinger has flown out to be in the Australia squad. What are the rules for replacements in these circumstances? Does he get replaced at all, by the 12th man, or anyone else NSW feel like?

By anyone NSW feel like, I believe. It was arranged before the game that he'd be replaced by Mark Cameron though.

Good to see Khawaja and Smith both in the runs. Admittedly only half centuries each, but still a half century more than North scored
