Considering Sutcliffe is arguably the greatest opener ever, Won't you want him opening?

4. Denis Compton
6. Allan Border
7. Alan Knott
8. Brett Lee
10. Clarrie Grimmett
11. Bill Johnston

Tough choice that, was considering two other bowlers or a batsman. Johnston will bowl seam ups (as he did for most of his success) so happy to peg Grimmett into the spinners slot.

Will have to do this again. :(

If Himanv picks Larwood, I pick Jardine. If he doesn't, I pick Larwood.

Can't access the internet for the next 13-14 hours.

Thanks.

I wanted to pick O'Reilly or Hammond. Decided to go with batsman considering that some fine spinners / bowlers will be available in next few Ashes.

Maybe, I'll consider moving Slater to 3 depending on who else I pick up later. I think a player of his quality would do fine at 3.

Yeah I wanted to pick O'Reilly but then I would have had a long tail. I can deal with Sutcliffe though.

As far as underrated batsmen go,It surprised me that Jardine had a freakishly good batting average too. I only associated Jardine with bodyline and the ton he countered it with against the WI but did not know that he was one of the best batsmen of his time.

The weird thing about Jardine is his utterly awful conversion rate - ten fifties, one hundred. Definitely a top batsman but for some reason struggled to keep going for big scores.
